Today on "It's My House" we shall discuss the "Detroit Water Wars".
Recently in the city of Detroit, Michigan around 45,000 residents were threathened with the possible shut off of their municipal supply. Many of these residents who were in scramble mode got themselves organized to prevent a massive shut off. So far it looks like they have won round one, however the fight is not over yet.
Today we shall discuss how things got to the point of the possiblity that water would be shut off and what local citizens did to private that from happening.
During our discussion we shall also discuss the topics of "weaponized banking", "weaponized water", Water PAC's.

Water is all around us and we think we know all about it but we are wrong. Water has many mysteries still surrounding it. Further, recent science has determined that water exists in a 4th state inside the human body. A state we had no idea existed with a previously unknown chemical composition. In fact, there might be MANY unknown states and compositions.
To discuss ths we have Gerald Pollack. Dr. Pollack received his PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He then joined the University of Washington faculty and is now professor of Bioengineering. He is also Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal, WATER, and convener of the Annual Conference on the Physics, Chemistry and Biology of Water.
His interests have ranged broadly, from biological motion and cell biology to the interaction of biological surfaces with aqueous solutions. His 1990 book, Muscles and Molecules: Uncovering the Principles of Biological Motion, won an “Excellence Award” from the Society for Technical Communication. His 2001 book, Cells, Gels and the Engines of Life, and his newest book, The Fourth Phase of Water: Beyond Solid, Liquid, and Vapor won that Society’s “Distinguished Award,” their highest distinction. In this show, we thought it would be useful to discuss some of the principle reasons why new businesses struggle when attempting to establish themselves in a competitive marketplace. Consequently, we explore basic foundational requirements to keep a new business healthy going forward, from a legal, marketing, and yes, even a common sense standpoint. There are "specific reasons" why startup businesses fail.
Corey Pace joins us to talk about her participation in the 2014 CUaware Protégé Competition! We may also Chick Fil-a, Apple and the NFL. History Is.
