In this episode of The Red Light Sports Ramble, presented by The Red Light Sports Network, Evan Witalison and Troy Otradovec will discuss the early retirment, of Chris Borland. Borland was drafted, in the third round, by the San Francisco 49ers. He eventually became the starting middle linebacker, in his rookie season. In the most shocking off season news, he decided that he wanted to retire. After talking with friends, family, and concussion researchers, he decided that head trauma was not worth the risk. Borland stated on Outside The Lines "I feel largely the same, as sharp as I've ever been. For me, it's wanting to be proactive," Borland said. "I'm concerned that if you wait 'til you have symptoms, it's too late. ... There are a lot of unknowns. I can't claim that X will happen. I just want to live a long, healthy life, and I don't want to have any neurological diseases or die younger than I would otherwise." Listen in and give your thoughts.

The Cubs fell to the Giants today 9-1 and couldn't get much action at the plate against Madison Bumgarner. After dropping 2 of 3 in San Francisco, they head to LA for a 3 game series against the Dodgers. Cubs pitching is an ongoing roller coaster, and injuries to key players have caused manager Joe Maddon to shuffle things up on defense. Can the Cubs take the series from the Dodgers, who are also missing some big names?
Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose has been accused of drugging and raping an ex-girlfriend who filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The alleged incident occurred in August of 2013. What do we know, what don't we know, and why are Chicago stars marred by unwanted spotlight this summer?
The Bears' injury woes continue at the wide receiver position. Does Jay Cutler even know the names of the guys he's throwing to in practice? Does he care? And a suspension to a trusted veteran means more high expectations for young Bears on defense, which showed improvement vs the Colts. How will Da Bears perform in their dress rehearsal vs the Bengals?

George Visger, a member of the San Francisco 49ers' first Super Bowl champions in 1981-82, has lived with a shunt in his brain ever since as a result of the many concussions he sustained during his football career.
Despite suffering from "water on the brain" and impaired short-term memory, he became a wildlife biologist, a prominent figure in the fight for fair treatment of retired players by the $10-billion-a-year National Football League, and advocate in solutions to the American football concussion crisis at all levels.
This is his remarkable story.
Todd Trigstead will be discussing his movie Gridiron Gladiators:The History and Uncertain Future of American Football, which can be streamed from www.gridirongradiatorsmovie.com.
Former NFL NY Jets & 49er's player, George Visger will tell us about a Draft Day fund raiser for local Marine/football player Dondre Ranson on May 29th (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXOX7fiNl9g). Dondre served our country honorably in active duty in Iraq only to suffer a concussion last spring playing for the Sacramento semi pro football team. He's been on life support since His wife who served honorably in Afganistan, also suffered a head injury from which she is in rehab. Visger suffered several undiagnosed concussions, and then during the following 81 Super Bowl season, he developed hydrocephalus at age 22 undergoing 3 emergency VP shunt brain surgeries in 8 months and was given last rites. Several subsequent surgeries and 34yrs later, George is still feeling the effects. He knows how brain injury can decimate a family. See thevisgergroup.org
