Jewish Roots - The Apostle Expounds On The Feast Of Booths

    in Spirituality

This year the Jewish Sukkot (the Feast of Booths) began September 18th and ended a week later. Throughout Israel and in the backyards of synagogues and Jewish homes throughout the world, open-air shelters decked with palm leaves, vines and hanging fruits remind the Jewish People of their exodus from Egypt 3500 years ago. To most of the Church, it's all a quaint tradition but largely irrelevant. Yet to Saint Paul, it was a major theological concept that he used when he taught on our sojourn through this world, the resurrection of the body and life of the world to come. Unless Christians understand this " Jewish root " to thei pilgrimage and resurrection, they cannot fully understand the teachings of Paul in the Christian epistles, or their walk of faith. Feast of Tabernacle, Sukkot. Booths, Ingathering- 10/08/14,, pre-recorded

    in Religion

"And the Lord  spoke unto Moses, saying,  speak unto the children of Israel, aaying,, The fiifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord." Lev 23:33-34

The Feast pictures Israel safe in Christ. and enjoying the coming Milllennial reign, when she will finally gain her place and position ordained by the Lord so long, long ago, as chief of the auhority.

General Info: Sukkot, is a week long celebration of the fall harvest and a time to build boots(temporary shlelters of branches) to remember how the Hewbrew people lived under God's care during a forty years in the wilderness.. (Neh 8:14-17). The celebration is a remainder of God's faithfullness amd protection. Sukkot is one of three pilgrimage feasts when all Jewish males were reguire to go to Jerusalem to appear before the Lord. (Deut  16:16)

Yeshua/Jesus: two ceremonies were part of the day of Sukkot (1) Giant golden lampstand were lit in the temple courtyard, and people carrying torches marched around the temple, Then set these lights around the walls of the temple, inndicating that Messiah would be a light to the Gentiles (Isa 49:2) (2) A priest carried water from the pool of Ssiloam to the temple, symblolizing that when Messuah comes the whole earth will know God. When Jesus attended the Feast of Tabernacles, on the last day of the feast, he said, " If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whosoever, believes in me, as the scriptures has said, streams of living waater will flow from within him (John 7:37-38)  Sukkot represents the final harvest when all nations will share in the joy and blessings of God's kingdom. During that time, all believers will celebrate this feast. (Zech 14:16-19)

The Feast of Tabernacles and End-Time Prophesy

    in Spirituality

The Church has lost something by neglecting its Jewish roots. If ever you needed a reason to study the Jewish Bible in order to understand the Christian gospel, you'd find it with the Feast of Tabernacles. Unless you understand something of this holiday you'll never fully understand the New Testament. This was the celebration of the huge Fall harvest, the event that would either make or break financially nearly every business and household in ancient Israel. The Torah speaks about it in terms of fruits and grains, but Zechariah the Prophet, Isaiah, John the Baptist, and Jesus himself spoke of it in terms of the harvesting of human souls. What's the connection? Tune in and take notes! Your host: Rev. Rick Anderson, on "Jewish Roots" each Thursday at 9:30 pm, EST, at www.scripturesdramatized.com  Internet podcast talk-radio.
