Lesbian/Gay and TRANS Educational Books for Kids

    in Romance

Michelle Miyamoto-Galvan is the author of 3 spectacular books for kids who don't fit into the typical hetero-normative, gender binary stereotypes. In her words,  these are "books about everyday kids who are going through life feeling a little different than all the other kids around them." The books embrace fludity in gender identiy, sexual idenity and orientation, and encourages kids to feel okay in their own skin.

She is a social worker at a Community Based Adult Services center, where she provides counseling and access to community resources to seniors and adults with mental health issues.

Michelle enjoys sharing everything she can and is diverse in her interests and skills, she is certified in massage therapy and reflexology and has taught all ages from pre-school to adults (massage therapy and a college course) and has over 15 years experience in business management.  Michelle also has an artistic side, she enjoys dancing, including Hawaiian, Aztec and salsa dancing and enjoys sewing, painting, writing and just about anything that requires creativity.

    Indie Books #93 (Declan Finn)

    in Books

Author Declan Finn joins me this week to discuss his books, including: The Pius Trilogy, It Was Only On Stun & Codename: Winterborn.

Declan Finn lives in a part of New York City unreachable by bus or subway. Who's Who has no record of him, his family, or his education. He has been trained in hand to hand combat and weapons at the most elite schools in Long Island, and figured out nine ways to kill with a pen when he was only fifteen. He escaped a free man from Fordham University's PhD program, and has been on the run ever since. There was a brief incident where he was branded a terrorist, but only a court order can unseal those records, and really, why would you want to know? He is currently hard at work on a vampire novel called "Honor At Stake." His political ramblings can be found at the-american-journal.com, while his rantings on writing can be found at:

    Indie Books #92 (Edward Freeland)

    in Books

Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.

Indie Books reaches across the Atlantic this week as author Edward Freeland joins me to talk about his book: Adapt

Daniel O'Neal lives a very normal life. He drives a bus for a living in a sleepy English countryside town, and enjoys the mediocrity of his daily routine. But on a trip to London, while enjoying a quiet drink with a friend, he notices a code of numbers on his mobile phone screen, and not for the first time.

When Daniel returns home, he begins to notice an increasingly common malfunction with his electronic devices, as his laptop begins to develop the same quirk.

Suddenly, his world undergoes a paradigm shift. It starts with subtle responses and giggles at work and in public. Daniel becomes increasingly paranoid, and certain that something is out of the ordinary, yet he cannot prove it. Before long, he believes himself to be under an assault on his being.

Is there something more playing with him than just his mind? Is there an organised attack on his psyche, and if there is, can Daniel find the strength to endure the attack.

    HOTEL MOSCOW~

From the author of Jerusalem Maiden comes a mesmerizing, thought-provoking novel that tells the riveting story of an American woman—the daughter of Holocaust survivors—who travels to Russia shortly after the fall of communism, and finds herself embroiled in a perilous mafia conspiracy that could irrevocably destroy her life.

Brooke Fielding, a thirty-eight year old New York investment manager and daughter of Jewish Holocaust survivors, finds her life suddenly upended in late September 1993 when her job is unexpectedly put in jeopardy. Brooke accepts an invitation to join a friend on a mission to Moscow to teach entrepreneurial skills to Russian business women, which will also give her a chance to gain expertise in the new, vast emerging Russian market. Though excited by the opportunity to save her job and be one of the first Americans to visit Russia after the fall of communism, she also wonders what awaits her in the country that persecuted her mother just a generation ago.

Inspired by the women she meets, Brooke becomes committed to helping them investigate the crime that threatens their businesses. But as the uprising of the Russian parliament against President Boris Yeltsin turns Moscow into a volatile war zone, Brooke will find that her involvement comes at a high cost. For in a city where “capitalism” is still a dirty word, where neighbors spy on neighbors and the new economy is in the hands of a few dangerous men, nothing Brooke does goes unnoticed—and a mistake in her past may now compromise her future.
