Who's fit to lead the black community, what does that person have to do in order to lead us? What are our expectations of this person? Join me as I take a look at our leaders past and present, did they really meet our expectations?
Normally, MSOL sponsors regular get togethers for staff, faculty, students and alums to discuss articles that focus on relevant leadership topics. Today, Dr. Jim Dittmar convenes a panel of distinguished alumni to discuss an article from the MITSLoan Management Review entitied, "The Question Every Project Team Should Answer." The subheading of the article's title states: "Many projects fail because they are launched without a clearly articulated reason why they're being pursued. Exploring the four dimensions of compelling 'why statement' can improve a project's chances of success. Joining Dr. Dittmar are MSOL graduates Wayne Unks and Neil Brem from Cohort 80, Lynn Rodden from Cohort 71, and Megan Monstwil from Cohort 78. Listen or call in and join the fun as these grads talk about what they learned about project managment from this article.

Just recently a 9-year-old boy was found hung (lynched) in a back yard in the most crime ridden area of Minneapolis - north Minneapolis. There are many unaswered questions about the boy including who is mother and father are; his point of origin and why people are collecting money to send his remains back to Chicago. Who is the Beatiful Foundation and who opened the account at Wells Fargo. How much was raise? Communnity spokespersons and sources tell us a flight has been booked for the dead child, but they still need money to pay for the ticket. After fifteen years of teaching Mathematics and extensive work with community service projects, Ben Ward has created the educational organization The Next Explorers with the goal of igniting a movement to transform the way we learn. Ben’s aim is to give young people the tools, space and support to become leaders of their own lives, to discover their own unique path and to increase their capacity to collectively shape the future. As part of his Leadership Quest he is piloting a student leadership programme at the Copenhagen International School, based on the synergy of co-active leadership, service-learning and social entrepreneurship. The programme is engaging an increasing number of students who represent different groups from within the school community. Structures, models and collaborations within the wider community are emerging. “I am standing strong in the blend of my intelligence type and my vulnerability. My masks are off and it feels like I am connecting deeply with the students, teachers, parents and community. Already I am sensing a shift in energy to one of possibility, creativity and solidarity.” - See more at: http://www.thevoiceofleadership.com/upcoming-programs.html#sthash.iJwboxNw.dpuf
Juneteenth is a good time for leaders to declare their Leadership Freedom. Some leaders struggle with many factors that cause leadership power to be subjugated by their own personal tyrannies.
Juneteenth, recognized on June 19, commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas in 1865.
And so as it pertains to leadership, what are the things that cause us to not recognize our leadership freedom? Let’s talk about three things: fear, oppression, and ignorance.

The story below posted by the Star Tribune newspaper (8/1) was first reported three weeks ago on the BlogTalkRadio program ON POINT! with Ronald A. Edwards and Don Allen. We don't understand why the Star Tribune waits so long to report on news about police misconduct but it's nice to know they're catching up.
Where is MInnesota's black leadership?
Three Minneapolis police officers were cited for assault in Apple Valley last year after the officers, who are white, were among a group of white men who followed a group of black men into a bar parking lot, knocking one of them down and beating him, according to a police report obtained Thursday by the Star Tribune. Racial slurs were used against the black man during the attack, the report said.
We talk about this and much more with another breaking story you can only get here.
Again, the phone lines will be open...

If we can't protect our Sister's in the struggle then what is the need to struggle? We have to come to the table right now and make the correct adjustments or this bastard will wipe us all the hell out! Justice is on the way, and there will be no peace for this enemy when Justice comes!" Now I'm not afraid to do the Lord's work, you say vengeance is his but I'm ma do it first. I'm gonna handle my business in the name of the law. It's Our Time Now, and we better realize that right now. Truth has come to you~
