You’re 8 years old and you learn that some children in the world don’t get to run and play, hug their parents, or eat well. That’s because they’ve been sold into slavery! What do you do about it if you’re a kid? If you’re Vivienne Harr, you create a plan for making $100,000 selling lemonade, and start working every day! 38 third grade students from Merryhill School in Sacramento are learning Financial Literacy. They’re asking the questions in this remarkable show in which kids put their heads together to make their world a better place. Click here to visit Vivienne Harr's website.
The 13th amendment allegedly abolished slavery. But that created a new problem. The newly freed slaves were not citizens of any state or country, because they were just property, and property did not have citizenship. To solve the problem, the 14th amendment allegedly passed. This amendment created a new class of citizenship. This new class was legally called: 'United States citizen', (with a small "c"). NOT 'United States of America Citizen', but just 'United States citizen'. Notice that the U.S. citizen is spelled with a lower case 'c'. This is to show a lower class of citizenship. This class of citizen (U.S. citizen) is a privilege granted by the federal government, and not a sovereign inalienable right.

In this segment I will be talking about Biblical faith. What is it really? I will also be talking about and exploring an aberrant teaching about something called the "force of faith" and why it is dangerous and considered a misunderstanding about Biblical faith. Could this way of believing ruin your image of God and distort the one true God of the Scriptures? I will also be covering a brief overview about Systematic Theology and Biblical Theology and why they play a major role in knowing Scripture rightfully. Tune in this Thursday evening at 8 PM EST. Blessings In Christ! Hosted by Peter Jannetti.
Speak Life Radio ~ The Importance of Mental Health CheckUps
Everyone is familiar with the concept of a periodic medical checkup --- some sort of scheduled doctor's visit to check your blood pressure, weight and other physical benchmarks.
The notion of a regular mental health checkup is less established, perhaps because of the historical stigma about mental illness. But taking periodic stock of your emotional well-being can help identify warning signs of common ailments like depression or anxiety. Such illnesses are highly treatable, especially when they are identified in their early stages, before they get so severe that they precipitate some sort of personal -- and perhaps financial --- crisis.
"Absolutely, people should have a mental health checkup" our guest tonight is Tish Granville a licensed professional clinical counselor employed with Emerge Counseling Services in Akron Ohio. Author and mental health counselor Nina Bingham discusses Suicide Prevention. She educates not only from her academic knowledge, but shares from her own hard-won life experience in a new and profound way. In private practice since 2003, she has treated individuals and couples with a wide variety of mental health issues. Her fifth book, “Once The Storm Is Over: From Grieving to Healing After The Suicide of My Daughter,” is due out in early 2015. It’s the autobiographical confession of a counselor who lost her teen daughter to suicide. What she learned about love and forgiveness changed her life forever.
Topics discussed on our show are listed below. The full blog article and how to contact Nina can be found here:
We asked Nina to tell us about her work, and her new book, Once The Storm Is Over:
What is the book’s message?
What impact did your daughter’s suicide have on you?
What are some factors that have helped you overcome the grief, and were key to your healing?
If a mental healthcare professional is experiencing symptoms, or one of their family members is, what is your advice for them?
How has coming out of the mental health closet changed your life?
What can be done to address the stigma that has accompanied mental illness in the past?
If our listeners have a friend or family member who is struggling with mental illness, or if they are, what should they do?
