January 18, 2016
If you’ve ever been in love, then you’ve heard the name All-4-One and their timeless songs “I Swear”, “I Can Love You Like That”, “So Much In Love”, “ I Turn To You”, “These Arms”, “Beautiful As You” and much more. The Grammy Award Winning group All-4-One is internationally known for making beautiful love songs that not only chart radio airwaves, but also garner countless awards.
All-4-One’s very first single “So Much In Love“, scaled to RIAA Gold Sales and top 5 pop status. The California based quartet soon marked their place in the industry as premier balladeers. Their second single, “I Swear“, claimed the billboard “Hot 100” #1 spot for 11 consecutive weeks, while sales sky rocketed to hold the #1 selling single status in 1994 and third most successful single of the rock era. “I Swear” STILL holds a spot on Billboard’s “Hot 100”as one of the most successful singles of all time and has been named by ASCAP as one of the greatest love songs of the 20th Century. “I Swear” is recorded in history with an imprint in the Guinness’s World Book of records (as the biggest selling single of 1994).
The groups second album was highlighted by “I Can Love You Like That”, a mid-tempo which hit the top 5 on the Billboard “Hot 100”. To date they have released a total of seven albums and sold over 20 million units worldwide, won a bevy of awards including a Grammy, an American Music Award, a Blockbuster Award, countless international awards and completed multiple major world tours.
Tonight's Unknown Zone features a little known phenomena where known islands have disappeared without a trace. From Bermeja, Mexico to Hy-Brazil west of Ireland islands have been mapped with a know history only to have disappeared for no apparent reason.
These islands can't even be found under the ocean where they once stood. Can people places and things just vanish from the Earth? Avalon, the Anasazi, the Maya and now islands join the mythic ranks of the unknown. Judy Sellins and Dave Turco will shed light on the very odd mystery
Sweet melodies, soft backgrounds and powerful leads would be the only way to describe the unique but soulful sound of R&B singer Bahja Rodriguez. Bahja is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Atlanta Georgia. From an early age Bahja has always enjoyed singing and had a passion for music.
Bahja’s professional career began at the age of 12 years old as “Miss Beauty” with the popular and colorful girl group the “OMG Girlz.” The group is most known for their songs “Gucci This(Gucci That),” “Where The Boys At,” “Baddie” and “Boy It’s Over.” The group performed on several major tours and had much success however, in March 2015 the group disbanded.
Not letting the group’s abrupt ending stop her from pursuing her dreams, Bahja sought out the perfect creative team to help develop and bring her vision as a solo artist to life. In April 2015, Bahja released her first song as a solo artist titled “Jealous Type” which has gained over one million sound cloud plays to date. She went on to release two more songs titled “Lipstick” and “Next One” each currently having more than 300,000 plays on sound cloud.
With such an overwhelming and amazing response to her music, Bahja Rodriguez definitely seems to be Atlanta’s “next big thing” and just what the music industry is missing. Her debut EP titled “It Gets Better” will be available for purchase everywhere music is sold online November 20, 2015.
Darren Barrett’ - Debuts newly released seventh album, “Trumpet Vibes.
For the first time in his award-winning career, the trumpeter-composer-producer explores his Jamaican roots on a recording project. Adeptly, the Boston-based artist from Toronto introduces good-time reggae rhythms and frenzied ska beats native to his parents’ Caribbean homeland to hard bop and swinging jazz on the eight-song set that he produced and wrote four new compositions.
A charismatic companion to engage in meaningful discourse and occasionally play foe to his astute trumpet play, Barrett selected the vibraphone to share the spotlight as a featured “voice” throughout the session, with noted vibes soloist Warren Wolf guesting on a pair of tracks to participate in improvisational banter with a young trio comprised of vibist Simon Mouillier and brothers Alexander and Anthony Toth on bass and drums respectively. Also of significance is that Barrett opens the session by saluting his late mentor, trumpet great Donald Byrd, on the chirpy swinger “Fly Little Bird.” Interesting to hear him ply the jazz-meets-reggae motif to pop gems such as the regal “To Sir With Love” and amorous overtures like David Gates’ “Everything I Own” and Stevie Wonder’s “My Cherie Amour.” Barrett shines on his own compelling compositions, including the moody and murky “Chiapas”; the deliberate “Song For A Princess,” on which he takes his time – nearly seven minutes - to bop and blow while cruising a laidback island wave; “Phantom dB” that gets a jarring jolt of rock & roll drumming and some dissonant trumpet distortion; and the slightly more conventional straight-ahead jazz foray “The Club Up The Street” that wraps the disc.
The Legendary Greg Mack .
Mack was already a successful air personality in Houston when a small AM station in Los Angeles called KDAY hired him to be disc jockey and music director. But Mack’s aggressive programming of rap music made KDAY the first station to embrace rap as a core part of its programming, and helped launch the L.A. rap scene. Mack gave the first airplay to now legendary acts like the LA Dream Team, Egyptian Lover, World Class Wreckin’ Cru, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Ice T, Ice Cube, NWA, Tone Loc and dozens more.
