We’re coming to you on tonight’s Frat House Sports Show with less than 72 hours to kick-off and the first of three pre-game programs leading up to Super Bowl 50!
Since we’re talking about a game in the future, we thought it appropriate to delve into the future of the NFL. Much has been made about what the game will look like in the next 50 years but no one has discussed WHO will be playing the game. As we continue to get reports about increased concussion rates and new cases of CTE in former players, we’ve expressed our concerns numerous times here about the real future of professional football. Steve Alic of USA Football and NFL Flag joins us to talk about youth football initiatives and the future of the NFL.
Both the NFL and NHL held their All-Star games this past Sunday, and the NHL’s is getting high grades. Our resident NHL analyst Matt DiBiase jumps in with his thoughts on the 3-on-3 format; his proposal for a KHL vs. NHL format; and, the John Scott controversy. Plus Dennis Wideman just got hit with a 20–game suspension which some think might get reduced to 10, while others believe it should have been a life-time ban.
THIS is the way to start of your Super Bowl weekend, so make sure you’re listening LIVE at 7 p.m. ET . . . and, calling-in your thoughts: 347 – 826 – 9964.
As 2015 comes to a close, many of us will make a New Years Resolution for 2016. Some will follow through and accomplish their resolution, while others will fail. Each of the four major sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL) have something that should be changed. Tonight Evan and Troy will give each of the commissioners some New Years resolutions for their leagues. What changes shoudl be made to make these leagues better? Listen in and call the show with your thoughts on what changes should be made.
On tonight's episode of TRU SPORTS TALK we go right into some of the controversial topics that are happening today in the world of sports. We also take a historical look into the factors that have shaped the perception of mainstream sports with a goal of providing insight and clarity to the listeners.
TONIGHT'S TOPICS INCLUDE
The legacy of Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Richard Sherman speaks out (Pt. 2)
Kam Chancellor holdout ends
Patrick Kane and racial disparity in the media
And much much more.
Corey Grooms, Sharia Marcus-Carter, and Rob Maylor
Okay – so, what did you make of the first week of the 2015 NFL season? It sure seemed there were some upsets – mix-up’s – bang-up’s – and back-up’s. Did ALL of those things come into play for one crazy Week 1? Well, get ready, here come’s Week 2.
The Frat House Sports gang is joined early by Craig Hoffman of ESPN 980-AM in Washington-D.C. to chat just a few minutes about this questionable Washington Redskins team. AFTER that, it’s on to dumb predictions; coaches on “hot seats”; and, shortened pre-season schedules . . . well, at least that’s what Roger Goodell wants, and what he wants he’s been able to get.
Let’s not forget – it’s the season of the always popular “4 Minutes of Football”; and our series-starter Frat House Sports’ Picks-of-the-Week looking at the Lions – Vikings / Patriots – Bills / Titans – Browns / Seahawks – Packers.
Matt DiBiase jumps in with us for some really timely NBA & NHL topics including the loss of Moses Malone.
As always, this is one terrific Frat House Sports Show . . . and, why not? There’s a reason why there have been 209 before it! Jump in! Listen in! Call-in: 347 – 826 – 9964!
You know what happens this weekend? How about NFL Football ! Yes indeed, it's quickly approaching "the most wonderful time of the year" and the fellas are back this evening with an all new Frat House Sports Show #204 !!
Now look, we know the real NFL stuff is still weeks away, but hold the phone because there are plenty of storylines worth talking about ahead of the new season kick-off. With the release of the Tom Brady appeal hearing transcripts, the guys are looking closely at how the 4 game suspension ruling will (or won't) hold up to a Federal Judge. Menawhile, in Philadelphia Coach Chip Kelly can't seem to escape the judgement by former players of racial bias, while out in St.Louis,MO the edict is "Build it and they will come" even if it means THEY will have to pay for it, like it or not.
What else is on "tap"? Ronda Rousey dismantles a bomb in less than a minute. The NY Mets look to swat pesky "nats" (who are YOU calling a fraud?). Heading to "the Glen" questions remain if Tony Stewart is racing opponents, or demons. Gary Bettman likes the shootout while Patrick Kane might need a bailout in NHL news, and Adam Silver has some ideas for NBA division winners.
Get in the "House" (and in the Game) by calling in your opinions to: 347-826-9964 this Thursday evening starting at 7 pm (edt) !!
WOW – THIS is one packed . . . but, “relaxed” Frat House Saturday program coming your way.
NFL Training Camps opened in the past week, and as you might expect the NFL coaching enigma, Philadelphia Eagles’ Chip Kelly is back in the news. Seriously? A racist? We talked about it on our “flagship” Frat House Sports Show #204 this past Thursday night.
MLB baseball is taking front-and-center late in the summer and the Frat House Sports’ Clean-Up Hitters run around the league dissecting the Trade Deadline with special guest Jayson Braddock of ESPN Houston 97.5 chatting about the Houston Astros. Also on deck though are the Chicago Cubs, and the continued debate about the Trade Deadline date.
Finally, NHL analyst Matt DiBiase joins us on our Frat House Sports Show to review the Patrick Kane scandal, and whether NHL expansion to particularly Las Vegas makes sense.
THIS is MUST “relaxed” Saturday listening . . . so, do the right thing. Lounge around the pool; get us tuned-in on the mobile device; enjoy and call-in to a solo Frat House Mike at 347 – 826 – 9964.
Are you ready for some football? Well, be sure to stop by the "House" on Thursday evening beginning at 7 pm for the annual NFL Round Table program, featuring discussions and predictions, on The Frat House Sports Show #203.
The guys are looking across the entire NFL landscape as training camps open and all 32 teams have high expectations for the 2015 season. The off-season was far from quiet for many teams, players and NFL executives however, and the discussions touch on some of the more notorious stories and scandals, as well as which franchises appear to have made improvement "on paper". Is your team positioned to move up or head south? Be sure to weigh-in with your thoughts, too.
Yep, the optimism at this time of year is palpable with some "new" coaches, young rookies and vested veterans signed up and preparing to throw down for at least the next 22 weeks. Of course ... not everything is smooth and not everyone is happy as news of suspensions, fines and appeals continue to bring negative attention to the "shield". Roger Goodell "the enforcer" can't seem to get out of his own way and his decisions continue to appear arbitrary at best, or wholly misguided at worst.
Also, the fellas find 20 minutes or so to explore recent stories from NHL & NBA headlines, including how realignment could look with 8 divisions of hockey (really?), why did Lou "leaf"? and Adam Silver's 'elite 8' concept for hoops playoff action in '15-'16. Get in the "House" and give 'em a call to: 347-826-9964.
