Featured Song: "Make Strong" by Hawane
The song is entitled, “Make Strong” and was written by Hawane for all who are standing for their sacred places from the mountains to the sea. The title was taken from a phrase uttered by our elder, Micronesian master navigator, papa mau piailug when ever the crew members were readying for a long voyage on the double hull canoes, he’d say to them, make strong for the voyage..if you didn’t make strong you weren’t ready to go...applies to everything we do as warriors.

Born Case Woodard, R&B star Case inherited his musical gifts from his father who was once a member of 70’s funk band Cameo. The oldest sibling of 3, the New York native grew up in a strict household and although music was the bond that tied him and his father together, it would also tear them apart.
Case’s solo career took off in 1996 with the release of "Touch Me, Tease Me" (with rapper Foxy Brown and R&B singer Mary J. Blige) from The Nutty Professor soundtrack, going gold and reaching #4 on the R&B charts and #63 on the Hot 100. His self-titled debut Case soon followed along with the minor R&B hit singles "More to Love" and "I Gotcha." Case followed the success of his first album with the release of Personal Conversation in 1999.

There are more than 200 different types of cancer and it can develop in any of 60 different organs within the body. There are three main types of mesothelioma; a rare cancer of the protective lining that covers many of the internal organs of the body. It's most commonly caused by exposure to asbestos.
During her childhood Heather von St. James did what many little girls do. She wore her daddy's jacket around the house when he came home from work -- never suspecting there was harm coming to her via that playful act.
In November 2005 at the age of 36, just three months after celebrating the birth of her daughter, she was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma. The delicately risky surgery to save her life took her more than 1400 miles away from the life she'd just brought into the world. The surgery performed at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital consisted of removing the lining of the lung, an entire lung, half of her diaphragm, the lining of her heart and her sixth rib. That marked the beginning of her journey to survive and her battle with what she calls "scanxiety." Motherhood and marriage interspersed with doses of humor and faith have strengthened her when anxiety and the fear of recurrence hit home.
She's now celebrating her 8th year as a survivor. Her mission in life is to help others with mesothelioma around the globe. Her stories of awareness and hope appear in places like The Huffington Post, Moms N' Charge, Everyday Health, interviews and hope-filled awareness blogs. When she's not busy speaking, advocating, and inspiring others, she's spends her time with husband/best-friend Cameron, volunteering at her daughter's school, planting flowers, and enjoying all things whimsical. Meet Heather von St. James - A Case for Hope!
Karen Romano Young was frequently wet during her early years. Despite not actually having webbed feet, she spent much of her nonschool time up to her knees in the Atlantic, Long Island Sound, or the Mill River in her hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut. Although Karen had little formal science education before high school, she learned on her feet, and has continued to do so through a career that includes scientific research expeditions, writing, and illustrating.
Karen has dived to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean in a tiny submarine, crunched through Arctic ice in an icebreaker, and visited labs, museum workshops, and research institutions across the U.S. in order to write and draw about science -- especially ocean science. She is the author of nearly 30 books for children, has illustrated several of these, and is the creator of Humanimal Doodles, a science comic for kids. Her fiction work includes the award-winning novel The Beetle and Me and the celebrated graphic novel Doodlebug.
Karen’s recent work includes Humanimal Doodle-style picture books for Harper Big Cat, such as Watching Whales, and Stuck in the Middle (Of Middle School), a sequel to Doodlebug. Right now she’s working on the photo shoot of a new National Geographic.

Seekers Paranormal Society BiographySeekers Paranormal Society started back in 2005 as West Coast Paranormal. We quickly realized that we needed a change of our name when the group disbanded in 2006. After visiting my uncle Charlie Wagner in 2006 I discovered that he also had the passion for paranormal research and investigation. His team name was Seekers Paranormal Society. So once I had returned from Utah I asked him if we could branch off of them and become a branch in Florida. We then became Seekers Paranormal Society of FL. Then after a few years we became Seekers Paranormal Society and the official paranormal team and advisor of many people in the Tampa Bay Area. We have had many investigations since our beginning. Ramon and I developed the team’s image from 2007. We have been friends for 11 years. In 2014 we have ventured into new territory taking on cold case murders through the families consent to help solve the case through collecting paranormal evidence.
This week, Ben Macintyre discusses “A Spy Among Friends”; Alexandra Alter and Parul Sehgal talk about the week’s literary news; Donald L. Miller discusses “Supreme City”; and Gregory Cowles has best-seller news. Pamela Paul is the host.
