Marcia Coburn, President of the Red Door Animal Shelter joins us. Red Door Animal Shelter is a no-kill shelter committed to helping animals in need. Its primary focus is on the rescue, shelter and adoption of cats, dogs and rabbits—the three most popular pets in the United States. Red Door provides a cageless environment for its animals, giving them the closest-to-a-home experience that a shelter can provide. While our emphasis is on re-homing the animals through resourceful adoption programs, the shelter does offer permanent residence for those few animals not placed in homes. Furthermore, Red Door is one of only five no-kill, multi-species shelters in the country that admits rabbits as well as cats and dogs, spays/neuters them and places them up for adoption.

Photography is a hobby for me, and a passion. I enjoy capturing a moment in time and believe every image tells it’s unique story. With creative attention to detail and a photojournalistic style of photography, I strive to produce a quality portrait that will bring years of enjoyment.
We’ve all heard stories about animals who defy destiny and go from the jaws of death to an idyllic life at an animal sanctuary. Stories of cows who jump seemingly impossible heights to escape slaughter and chimps rescued from laboratory research facilities are familiar, but there’s much to it than that. Where do the other animals come from? How do they juggle a virtual Noah’s ark of animals so everyone is happy? What does it take to run an animal sanctuary? And what happens when it’s full? We will talk about these and many more questions (bring your own questions to the conversation if you’d like to!) during our show with Kathy Stevens, Founder and Director of the Catskill Animal Sanctuary in New York and Steve and Helen Rayshick, founders, caretakers and guardians of Sunny Meadow Sanctuary. These stories need to be told and that’s exactly what we’ll share with you. Please join us for an inspiring, touching and eye-opening show!
Maria Sanchez has personally witnessed and documented, photographed, and video taped systemic abuse at the San Bernardino Animal Shelter in San Bernardino, CA. She will join us live Saturday September 7 10 am PST to discuss in depth her on going battle with this city shelter

It's October, that time of year when our thoughts turn to the spirit world. On this show, Jennifer will be discussing the spirits of animals--not only our pets, but animals that lived in the forests, fields, and oceans. The American Indians and many other ancient tribes around the world had great reverence for the animal kingdom. They believed that animals in spirit were actually around us, to help us and guide us.
TV Host and Animal Rights Advocate and Vegan Jane Velez-Mitchell of HLN joins Rolonda Watts to talk about how her tremendous love for animals led her to give up meat and become a Vegan. Jane tells of the benefits of going Vegan and how we can all do our part in saving and caring about animals.

Joining us is Michelle Ramos from the Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA, Arizona's oldest and largest no kill animal shelter. Learn about their many community programs, education, and success.
The Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) was founded in 1971 by a group of concerned animal lovers. This group was led by Amanda Blake, best known as "Miss Kitty" on the television program, Gunsmoke. Starting out on a small scale, concerned volunteers adopted rescued cats and dogs from foster homes. In the late 1970s, the organization built its first shelter. By the mid 1990s, the AAWL & SPCA began rescuing animals scheduled to be euthanized by the County, and, after rehabilitation, made them available for adoption to the community. Over the past 42 years the organization has grown from adopting a handful of animals each year to a full service animal welfare organization and leader in innovative behavior training, medical care, adoption, education and community outreach programs. Today our shelter has an onsite veterinary clinic, kennels with a separate cattery, a training center and a freestanding infirmary.
In 2005, the Arizona Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) merged into AAWL. The new organization was renamed the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA (AAWL & SPCA).
