Benjamin Scott Allen discusses creative expression after loss of a loved one

    in Self Help

In today's show Benjamin will discuss tools for healing, including creative expression through art, music, poetry, story-telling, journaling and other writing.

This show is about healing loss. Whether it is the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, or a dream, we find ourselves lost in another world. What was before no longer is. This is the world of the Afterloss.

It is our goal to share this world together and to help each other navigate this new experience. We are here to explore what was lost and what is left, and find a new way to relate to both. Loss is a part of life, and we all deal it differently.

Benjamin is the author of Out of the Ashes, Healing in the AfterLoss. This book is about profound loss and forging a new path after his loved ones died.

When we give ourselves permission to lean into loss, this unique process of healing finds its own time and rhythm. There are parts of the Afterloss that only you know and only you can travel, but everyone who has experienced loss in one form or another knows the path has many footprints that can lead us into healing. We are not alone.

Your hosts Benjamin Allen and Deborah Brown will share their journeys through grief into healing and create a container for others to explore, define and lean into loss of all kinds.  We meet here and now on the path to the rest of our lives, at the intersection of Loss and Hope ... may we all be blessed by sharing what we have lived and learned.

The Late Benjamin Freedman: The Jewish / Khazarian Connection

    in Education

What follows is a quick 30 minute audio essay I pulled together which is an abstract from a letter that the late Benjamin Freedman wrote to his friend Dr. David Goldstein. The letter is dated October 10, 1954 (60 years ago). In the letter, Mr. Freedman who was a former Zionist details the origins of the Jewish lineage which goes back not to the Middle East but back to Europe and the Khazarian Empire. Which means today's Jews are not descendants of anyone or anything from Biblical Lore.

Mr. Freedman’s research, which was extensive, means the Israeli claim to Palestine and other areas of the Middle East is not founded in any historical fact or evidence. His research says the Jewish claim to Palestine is unfounded since they are not Israelites but European Khazars.

Benjamin Freedman’s research has been validated by other researchers and also by a recent DNA study released in 2012 by Dr. Eran Elhaik, an Israeli born, Jewish researcher from John Hopkins Medical University. Elhaik's scientific DNA study also points the Jewish lineage back into Europe and not Palestine or any other area within the Middle East.

The audio transcript that follows is a portion of Mr. Freedman’s complete letter. The link to the full letter is below along with some additional information.

I apologize upfront for the computerized voice but I tried to select one that was as easy on the ears as these voices can be.

    Laura Zander

    in Knitting

On the next edition of Fiber Hooligan (04/28/14) my guest will be Laura Zander of Jimmy Beans Wool. Originally from North Carolina, Laura earned a Master's in Poli Sci but switched gears while earning her PhD to computer programming (a favorite subject of hers). After lots of hard work, she landed a software developing job in Palo Alto, which is where Laura met her future husband, Doug! Wanting a change from the hectic pace of Silicon Valley, they moved to scenic Tahoe where Laura started to design websites for small companies. During this time, she learned to knit and loved it, which is how Laura met Lorna - owner of a local hand-dyed yarn company. She encouraged Laura to follow her true passion (knitting!) and voila! Doug and Laura emptied their savings account and Jimmy Beans Wool was born!

We're going to be talking about the evolution of Jimmy Beans Wools, Sitch Red, her philosophy on business, the fiber arts industry, successes, challenges, and what's in store for the future.

Laura is one of the most savvy business people in the fiber arts world. She's also someone who's courageous and generous of spirit. I’m so happy to be able to have her on the podcast. I hope you’ll tune in for what should be a great show.

THE NDUSTRY PRESENTS JAZZ-FUSION GUITARIST, CLAY BENJAMIN

    in Entertainment

THE NDUSTRY PRESENTS THE BRILLIANT, SMOOTH, JAZZ GUITARIST, CLAY BENJAMIN!

Clay Benjamin began playing guitar at age 13 in a musical family, which brought him great support. He joined his first band, One Accord, at age 16, the youngest in a key group of experienced musicians. There he started doing live recording sessions while perfecting his onstage presence. Then in 1997, Benjamin became the touring lead guitarist for smooth jazz artist Paul Howards as well as the fusion jazz group Segue. He spent years opening up for legendary artists like Chuck Loeb, Four Play, The Rippingtons, James Brown, Kool and The Gang, Ray Charles, The Commodores and even The Yellow Jackets, the band from that fateful clear cassette tape.

Benjamin went on to play for the show band Diggin' before most recently having the opportunity to tour as the rhythm guitarist for Rev. Al Green. He has graced the stages of The Royal Albert Hall in London; The Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, California; The Manchester Coliseum in Manchester, England; Red Rock Amphitheatre in Colorado; and the BB King Blues Club and Madison Square Garden in New York. His in-studio talent has been secured by gospel stars Uncle Reece and Tito T'Juan and featured on Troy Sneed's charted gospel hit “My Heart Says Yes” and Donald Hayes's album Reflections Vol. 2.

Benjamin is currently embarking on his first solo jazz instrumental project, wearing the hats of performer, writer and producer with equal grace and deftness. The project's first single “I Need You” was met with resounding approval when it debuted at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival early 2014. “I Need You”, as well as his 2011 album Intervention is available on iTunes, Amazon and most music web stores.

LISTEN TO THE LIVE INTERVIEW AND SONG SELECTIONS VIA PHONE AT 718-766-4964 OR ONLINE. YOU ARE NOW IN THE NDUSTRY!
