Jimmy Grant and Sean Miskimins Authors of Deprived: The Lost 1982 NFL Season

    in Sports

                                                                     realsportsguys.com

The Real Sports Guys interview Jimmy Grant and Sean Miskimins the authors of Deprived: The Lost 1982 NFL Season:

In 1982 the NFL season was halted for 57 days by a players strike. Although an abbreviated season was eventually completed, the fans were cheated out of a full schedule, great matchups, and a true post-season. Go back in time as we use statistical analysis, humor, and the musings of two young adolescents to replay the 1982 season. Through the eyes of youth, their relationships with family, and their boyhood "idols" we revisit the 1982 season that we were all deprived of.

In addition to learning about the purpose behind writing this book, these former Division III student-athletes will talk about a new NFL Quarterback Rating  System they developed!

It’s on! The football season is here and the RSG fellas are ready to go! What's going on in Waco?! USC in the news again?!  Illinois big news days before the start of the season?! Wow! Ready Break!

    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/station-iwdm/2015/08/30/repeat-polygyny-what-it-means-when-afr-amer-muslim-women-share-their-husbands

WORDS MAKE PEOPLE guest on Sunday August 30th is Dr. Debra Majeed of Beloit, WI  (Beloit College). Join us from 1-3 p.m. (EST) on Station IWDM.

In June, the University Press of Florida will released “Polygyny: What It Means When African American Muslim Women Share Their Husbands” by Debra Majeed.

YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS THOUGHT PROVOKING INTERVIEW AND DISCUSSION ON A REAL-LIFE TOPIC.

The publisher’s description follows of this book states:

Debra Majeed sheds light on families whose form and function conflict with U.S. civil law. Polygyny–multiple-wife marriage–has steadily emerged as an alternative to the low numbers of marriageable African American men and the high number of female-led households in black America.

This book features the voices of women who welcome polygyny, oppose it, acquiesce to it, or even negotiate power in its practices. Majeed examines the choices available to African American Muslim women who are considering polygyny or who are living it. She calls attention to the ways in which interpretations of Islam’s primary sources are authorized or legitimated to regulate the rights of Muslim women. Highlighting the legal, emotional, and communal implications of polygyny, Majeed encourages Muslim communities to develop formal measures that ensure the welfare of women and children who are otherwise not recognized by the state.

    Episode 128: Defending your Lagares

    in Baseball

In the "And his hair was perfect" edition, Greg and Jeffrey are obligated to do the usual midseason review stuff we guess. But first Greg sings the praises of Kevin McReynolds, while Jeffrey sings the praises of fringy Jewish platoon dudes. Then we talk about the Mets first half and Jeffrey takes on Greg and the internet on the subject of Juan Lagares. Then we answer you e-mails about...uh, Juan Lagares, the fringiest of  fringy prospects, and shirseys. But hey, at least it isn't as long as an MTV Alternative music video show this week.
