Friends and Family Online Wednesday Bible Study

    in Religion

Mark 8:14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?

18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

Beautiful from the Inside Out:SPECIAL:Joys of Giving: NYC Basket Brigade

    in Self Help

Amanda Scocozzo, CPC is a certified coach with a passion for contribution and change, leading her clients to discover the best version of themselves.

With a break from the regular show, Amanda will be speaking with Anna Olivo to discuss history of the New York Basket Brigade. Anna will share her tips and knowledge of what is involved in creating a successful event based upon her vast knowledge and years of experience.

    About the Basket Brigade:

The New York Basket Brigade is built on a simple notion: one small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds. It takes only one light to dispel the darkness, and even just one basket or a few, to bring hope! A Basket Brigade takes place when one individual prepares one basket to personally deliver to a needy family or individual.

The New York Basket Brigade is associated with the  International Basket Brigade, providing baskets of food and household items for an estimated 2 million people annually in countries all over the world through local grass roots efforts. Throughout the years International Basket Brigade volunteers deliver food, clothing, and hope to those who need it most. We would be honored to have you become a part of this truly wonderful event in your local community.

Stinger: Charlotte All-Time Team Power Forward Selections

    in Basketball

You wouldn't know it from recent history, but the power forward position has traditionally been a position of strength and star power for the Charlotte Hornets. Larry Johnson started the trend when he burst on to the scene in 1991, claiming awards, accolades, national sponsorships and greatest of all a cameo in Space Jam.

Larry was our legend, but the man that succeeded him may have played just as well. Anthony Mason was a force inside, fleet of foot and cerebral between the baskets. David and Doug discuss their legacies PLUS we reveal the story behind Johnson's iconic Grandmama character.

Mother's Day with Linda Gorin, The Best to You

    in Business

Today my guest is Linda Gorin, The Best to You. Linda and I will be talking about her business and next weekend's celebration of Mother's Day.

The Best to You began as a hobby in 1984. Soon, creating festive gifts for special people became a passion. Back then, the dining room table was the design area and a big order was more than six baskets at one time. It’s fun to remember when the thought of having their own gift basket company seemed like just a dream. It started to become a reality when they opened our first little shop in 1985. As the business grew, Linda celebrated six expansions. Today, The Best to You enjoys a reputation as one of the finest gift basket companies in the industry. They have been featured on Channel 8 and Channel 10 numerous times.  The Best to You is in the business of delivering memories!

The Best to You team takes that very seriously. We deliver joy and good will. We build grand displays of appreciation. We send "you can do it!" style encouragement, and "we’re all thinking of you" style comfort. We deliver "work of art" welcomes and memorable farewells. We deliver fun and excitement that create impromptu celebrations. We send morale skyrocketing with our employee thank you gifts and deliver warm, fuzzy feelings of home with our college care packages. We’ve been responsible for expedited wedding proposals, rekindled romances, and when someone’s having a horrible day, we can change tears to smiles.

Our team of creative imagineers is constantly thinking of new and unique designs to thrill and delight. They are master memory makers! If you ever have a custom request, a question, or just need some additional information, feel free to call. We love hearing from you!

FINANCIAL…- Never have only one income stream! DIVERSIFY! (Baskets of Money)

    in Business

This episode is part of our FINANCIAL FIERCENESS!™ series! This series integrates our financial goals into our development plan for surpassing our goals. This episode is, “Never have only one income stream! DIVERSIFY! (Baskets of Money)”

Diversify: to change (something) so that it has more different kinds of people or things

Option 1) No Diversification/ Only 1 income stream:

You have a full time job with a large company. You earn $3,700 USD gross per month. After taxes and other mandatory withholding, you have $2,600 USD per month (your net take home pay). Out of this amount you have to pay all of your necessary bills (utilities, etc.) and ideally you should save a percentage (15% or more is suggested). Then the “extra” leftover money is yours to use at your discretion for fun (entertainment, dining, etc.). You lose your job (layoffs, the firm goes out of business, etc.). Your income is now $0 USD per month. What do you do?

Option 2) Diversification/ More than 1 income stream:

You have a full time job with a large company. You earn $3,700 USD gross per month. After taxes and other mandatory withholding, you have $2,600 USD per month (your net take home pay). In addition, you have 5 rental properties (paid for with no mortgages). The total rental income is $6,000 USD per month. The necessary bills (property tax, insurance, etc.) total $1,850 per month. Your income (for your business or yourself depending on how you structure the ownership of the properties) is $4,150 per month. After taxes (which will vary depending on how you structure owning the properties), and other expenses (maintenance, repairs, etc.), the amount left is $2,500 USD per month. Your total income each month is $2,600 wages + $2,500 income from rental properties. You lose your job. Your income is now $2,500 per month.

    Which option do you prefer?
