The Four Purposes of Life: Finding Meaning and Direction in a Changing World

    in Relationships

The literal millions who have read Dan Millman’s books know that he approaches the complex topic of life’s meaning with a unique and exceedingly appealing blend of wisdom, wit, and practicality. His insights connect with people where they are — and then move them forward. Those at a crossroads, facing a challenge, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and the workings of the world will find realistic, doable action steps. These practices amount to the kind of “Humanity Curriculum” many of us never studied. As readers Learn Life’s Lessons, Find Career and Calling, Discover Life’s Path, Attend to the Arising Moment, and for “extra credit,” Explore Spiritual Purpose, insights accumulate. Direction is clarified and the authentic and unique life purpose each of us is meant to live illuminated.

    in Spirituality

Acts 2:38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Wow now how simple is that???

You know one's outcome is often determined by how they begin and here we see that at the beginning of every new believer's walk with Jesus is the command to follow Jesus Christ in baptism.

And that means to be symbolically buried to the old life and raised to walk in newness of life. This study shows the importance of starting out walking in obedience to Christ.

Tune in to learn about the Biblical Method, Motive and Meaning of Water Baptism!

DOES LIFE HAVE INTRINSIC MEANING? with PAUL MORRIS, EHP

Is life meaningful all on its own?  Does just being born and dying have inherent value or is there more to it than that?  Why do people follow religion, take up causes, create things that may be considered art or not and search for meaning in life?  If life already has meaning then why do we have to search for it?

You are invited to call in to search for answers to this most pivotal of questions to our often perplexing existence.

The Meaning Behind the New Year's Traditions

    in Culture

New Year's Eve, with its emphasis on romance and indulgence, might seem like a totally secular celebration. But underneath all that glitter and sparkle is an ancient holiday with deep spiritual roots. For centuries people have been observing the end of one year and the beginning of another.

Ancient Romans celebrated with 6 days of carousing that would probably be familiar to us today. St. Boniface, a missionary from England who visited Rome in 742, was appalled at how the Romans celebrated Kalends of January, as the New Year was called, with "dancing in the streets, heathenish cries, sacrilegious songs, tables laden with food and women wearing amulets and offering them for sale."

Because the Winter Solstice is the turning point of the year, beginning the lengthening of days, it has long been viewed as the birth of the year--by pagans celebrating the return of the Sun, and by Christians welcoming the birth of the Son of God. The days between Solstice and the New Year are a magical, luminous time period, when anything is possible. In England, the 12 Days of Christmas were considered omen days which could be used to predict the weather in the coming year. In Scotland, no court had power during these days; and in Ireland, tradition held that if a person died during the 12 Days, he or she went straight to Heaven.

In ancient Babylon, the days between the Winter Solstice & the New Year were seen as the time of a struggle between Chaos and Order, with Chaos trying to take over the world. Other cultures (Hindu, Chinese, Celtic) also viewed this as a time for reversing order & rules.
