Maintaining Your Relationships During Pregnancy Part 3

    in Family

In the first show and second segment, I discussed the positive and negative strategies couples use to maintain a relationship and stay close during pregnancy.  An example of positive behaviors to keep the relationship close is being open in a relationship.  An example of negative behaviors explained in the second show is using avoidance or deception (which is not always bad) as a way to make sure the relationship is as normal as possible during pregnancy.  In this third segment, I will have a female guest (who just gave birth) explain her experiences with the positive and negative ways she and her husband maintained their relationship during pregnancy and offering tips for future pregnant partners.  Please join me and call in to share your feedback.

Author Jerry Peill joins Kori on the Back Porch

    in Books

What do moonshine, motorbikes, misteltoe, and mountain mystery mail have to do with funerals, folklore, feline detectives, singing hounds, and secret blueberry patches? Nothing. That is until our hero and narrator, the ultimate fish-out-of-water, British folklorist, Dr. Tom Watson, finds himself doing post doctoral research in Appalachian Virginia. At first appalled by the absurdity of the language and lifestyle of the simple mountain community of Caney Forks, Dr. Watson falls in with and under the spell of beautiful mountain conjure woman and private detective, Shirley Combs and her feline companion, “Whassup?” Together they set out to solve the little mysteries of Caney Forks as this “Dr. Watson” learns to respect mountain wisdom and culture. Part farce, part detective story, part anthropological dive into the folkways of a culture and way of life that is slipping away, The Curious Case of the Conjure Woman is a wild ride.

Dance With Bipolar Round #2 During the Holidays

    in Self Help

Welcome to Dance with Bipolar with Meg Dog and Doc Reimers, psychologist in NJ.  Dance With Bipolar disorder is a talk show that views bipolar from a positive perspective. Meg Dog and I believe that you don’t have to fight your diagnosis or your family. The next few episodes are dedicated to helping you and your family members better manage emotions during the crazy holidays.  Holidays force family members to interact with each other, sometimes re-igniting old family dynamics.  It’s as if many of the feelings we have about our family lie dormant until the holidays hit us.  We may feel like we are in a boxing ring with family members and relatives taking jabs at us.  Don’t be knocked off your feet in “round 2” of the holidays.   Call us and share what your family is like or any problems you believe you may encounter this holiday season.   We will teach you a little about  “emotional shadow boxing” so that the left hook won’t hurt at all.
