By Byron L. Demery New author draws on common-sense, real-life experiences to inspire youth to greatness Forming A Strong Foundation For Your Life helps adolescents see consequences of life choices Byron L. Demery has parlayed his six-year long dedication to mentoring youth into authoring his debut motivational title, Forming A Strong Foundation For Your Life. The path to the book was perhaps forged when Byron first organized a group of male volunteers to serve in a pilot mentoring program at Cleveland’s East High School during the 2006–2007 school year. Since then he continues to serve as a mentor to young males in 4th and 5th grades through Greater Cleveland Volunteers’ My Mentor My Friend program. Inspiring young people comes naturally to the Northeast Ohio native, a son and grandson of life-long Cleveland public school teachers. Byron, himself a father of two, credits GOD with imparting to him the gifts of insight and empathy. It is Byron’s hope that Forming A Strong Foundation For Your Life will serve as a guide with advice that will stay with its readers as they move through adolescence to young adulthood— whether or not they had an opportunity to have mentors in their lives. Byron holds a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Budgeting and Finance from Kent State University, where he also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics.
The statistics are alarming: 1 in 4 women is abused by a partner; 1 in 3 women is raped, and perpetrators are overwhelmingly male. So why do they abuse and rape? Is it society? Women and how they behave? How we raise sons? Who are these abusers, why do they do it, and what can we do about it?
Phyllis Frank, Associate Executive Directors of VCS of Rockland County, New York joins us for a rousing discussion about the men who abuse (women who abuse are another show). Ms. Frank started a batterer program in 1978 and has worked non-stop to work locally and nationally on issues of domestic violence offenders, accountability and batterer programs, even co-authoring several articles that were published in Social Work: Journal of the National Association of Social Workers. She was appointed by NY Governor Mario Cuomo’s Commission on Domestic Violence, and has been co-chair of the National Organization for Men Against Sexism. Join us:

Kip Marlow of The Entrepreneur Club of America and Entrepreneur's Insight Radio joins us to discuss his book, The Entrepreneurs: Success and Sacrifice. What does it really take to become a successful entrepreneur? Just ask those who have succeeded. The Entrepreneurs: Success and Sacrifice gathers the success stories of small business owners who have transformed small businesses into highly lucrative enterprises through vision, persistence, and plenty of sweat. Culled from Marlow’s interviews on his popular radio show, “Entrepreneurs Club Radio,” this highly motivational collection is an invaluable learning tool for anyone who wants to get ahead, and stay ahead, in their own business.
Author Kip Marlow tried his hand in the corporate world and failed. He then became an entrepreneur, founding Marlow Surgical Technologies, a company that marketed surgical instrumentation, some proprietary, for gynecology. After operating it for twenty-two years, Kip sold it to a NYSE company and retired. When he realized that retirement was boring, he re-entered the professional world, counseling and mentoring young entrepreneurs. This led to the launch of his radio show, “Entrepreneurs Club Radio” (www.ecrsuccess.com), for which he interviewed hundreds of successful small business owners. This led to authoring of the book, The Entrepreneurs: Success and Sacrifice.
