Dr. Elena Sabbi's inspiration for accessible astronomy books occured after she hired a visually impaired intern. Dr. Sabbi works at the Space Telescope Science Institute. Her new book Reach for the Stars is a free e-book is designed to be accessible for people with visual and reading impairments. She describes the book as well as her fascinating work researching star formation in the Tarantula Nebula in the Large Magellenic Cloud.
After that, we talk with David Gaynes, the director and producer of the film, Saving Hubble. This remarkable film gives us insight into how the telescope has changed how we think about science and our place in the universe.
We will be talking with John Gideon Hartnett an astro-physicist and PhD. who has been highly acclaimed for his work with nuclear clocks. Dr. Hartnett an austrailian is skyping in from across the world to answer questions regarding his belief in a literal 6-day creation. What has he learned studying the universe? Are there facts hidden away from the common man? All this and more on Bible Smack!
Join the lively discussion with Dr Jewell and Amanda Aubry, member of MarsWithout Borders, MWOB, an international group of scientists,physicians and creative artists, working together to develop the capabilities and technology for humans to live , work and thrive in space with the mission goal set for future colonization of off-world planets such as Mars Moon and Asteroids.
Amanda will talk about her interests, experiences and ideas in areas of astronomy and its relation to the vast Universe. She is a proactive advocate for STEM education and involved in various activities to increase public awareness and interest for space exploration.Her research interests is to develop ideas, such as, the Mars Astronomical Clock, Mars Telescope and Mars Calender.

Wesley J. Callihan is the Founder and Tutor of Schola Classical Tutorials. He grew up on a farm in Idaho and graduated in History from the University of Idaho in 1983. He has taught at Logos School, the University of Idaho, and New St. Andrews College in Moscow, Idaho, and at Veritas Academy in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He has written curriculum for several ACCS and other Christian schools, such as Great Books study guides, and speaks regularly at Classical Christian education conferences for home educators and private schools, and teaches summer intensive Latin courses. He has written columns and short fiction for Credenda/Agenda and Antithesis, and contributed to the book Classical Education and the Home School, (published by Canon Press).
