The Esendemir Sisters, Founders of Flatbread Grill

    in Business

The Esendemir Sisters are three Turkish-American millennials who grew up in near poverty. The sisters, Fusun, Gonca and Arzu Esendemir, started Flatbread Grill, a fast casual Mediterranean restaurant concept, back in 2007, at the height of America’s worst economic recession. The Esendemir Sisters oversaw every aspect of the brand’s creation through menu development, interior design and operational duties. Flatbread Grill took off almost immediately.

With no money for marketing or advertising, the Esendemir Sisters relied solely on their customers’ word of mouth and loyalty to sustain the brand and drive it’s growth. Within two months of being open, Flatbread Grill received an excellent review in the New York Times, catered for celebrity clients, and served nearly 800,000 customers out of their first store location in Montclair, NJ. Flatbread Grill has signed a 300-unit franchise development deal with FranSmart, to expand the brand worldwide.

So the burning question, one which we fail to ask ourselves at the time when it matters the most:

    "What do we REALLY want?"

Come join us as we candidly voice aloud ‘conversations with self’ and ponder questions such as:

Why we made certain things unattainable simply because we were too afraid to connect with our true desires? … and How do our conflicting conversations with SELF keep us out of alignment with what we truly want to experience? What is it that you are waiting for anyway?

What happens when the inner world is at odds with the outer world?

What is the missing elusive ingredient?

Join us weekly as we discuss, explore and uncover the genesis of our illustrious manifestations and creations!!

    Yarn Bombing Los Angeles

    in Art

Yarn Bombing Los Angeles (YBLA) is a group of guerrilla knitters who have been collaborating since 2010 to stage public installations and performances to help expand the definition of public art to include self initiated, temporal urban interventions.
Guest Arzu Arda Kosar, a founding member of the group, will discuss the origins of the collaborative and their recent project CAFAM Granny Squared - the yarn bombing of the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles. Over 500 crafters from 50 states and 25 countries joined to crochet 12,000 granny squares to cover the facade of the building.
The project is designed to bring together a community of artists and crafters who otherwise might not have had access to exhibit their work in a museum. After de-installation, the crocheted squares will be sewn into blankets and distributed to the residents of Skid Row.

186.DUCE (WWR) "The Wrath of BONE Tuesday "

    in Current Events

186.DUCE (WWR) "The Wrath of BONE Tuesday "
Residents in a quiet New Jersey neighborhood are trying to figure out what triggered a murder-suicide that left four people dead. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office says 28-year-old Adepso Collado apparently shot his estranged wife, 26-year-old Kenia Collado, in her Bayonne home Monday. Thirty-one-year-old Jose Guzman and Guzman's 14-month-old son also were killed. Police say a naked, 300-pound bodybuilder savagely beat a Southern California couple at their home, leaving them in critical condition. The Sun of San Bernardino says 22-year-old Ruben Arzu apparently was under the influence of steroids and other drugs, and it took four police officers, two stun gun blasts and four sets of handcuffs to restrain him. Rima Fakih, who earned the title of Miss USA in 2010, is now facing drunk driving charges after being arrested over the weekend in Highland Park, Michigan. Things are getting pretty hairy on the set of Glee. The holiday episode, which airs next Tuesday, will feature one of the show's most surprising guest stars ever: Chewbacca from Star War s&186.DUCE!
