The Business of Art and Theatre

    in Entertainment

Whether you are an actor or a director, a producer or an art proprietor and creator of any sort, there is an business to what you do.

Sure, we as artists love to create and bring our imaginations and fantasies to life, but we have to eat. We have a responsibility to give back, but you cannot serve or be of service on an empty stomach. So, where do you find that balance -- how do you live a purposeful but plentiful life?

I most certainly don't have all the answers, but I want to share what I've learned so far.

PLUS, let's talk about creating awareness for your brand. I get a lot of questions on how to share your art after you have created it. I hope to touch on a little about that as well on this episode of Detroit Meets the Bard.

    The Art of Business Entertaining

    in Self Help

There are very few business ventures today that don't require some form or degree of entertaining.  This can be an enjoyable experience or an absolute nightmare depending upon your level of expertise and your comfort with entertaining business guests.  If you are shy or new to the entertaining environment, you don't want to look like a scared rabbit or behave in a manner that lets others know you are petrified.  You want to appear poised and gracious at all times.

Join Choices host, Judi Moreo, author of the best-selling book, You Are More Than Enough: Every Woman's Guide to Purpose, Passion, and Power, as she discusses how you can appear as though business entertaining is old hat to you.  Judi will address how to choose the venue and the menu, entertaining the international guest, choosing a wine, and what to do with business cards and much, much more.

2014 Winners - Best Art Fairs in America!

    in Business

ArtFairCalendar.com has just finished its 2nd annual "America's Best Art Fairs" survey and we announce the winners. This is the only national online survey of the country's juried art fairs and craft shows, designed to reward the festivals that create opportunities connecting artists and communities to celebrate the arts.

We asked our mailing list of over 50,000 art fair patrons what was the best art fair in the country and had an amazing nationwide response. Nearly 90% of the respondents completed the lengthy 20 question survey and the answers were both expected and intriguing.

Not surprisingly: people love to attend art fairs and many travel long distances to do so. The overall conclusion is: Art is Alive and Well in America and attendance at the nation's shows is proof of that.

Listen to find out what the Top 50 shows in the country are as voted on by the people who attend them and collect art. Find out which they have chosen as the best regional fairs, best urban fair, best small market show and the best cities for art fairs.

We'll share the survey answers on:

    what makes a show "Best"
why people say they attend an art fair
how art fair goers find out about shows to attend
why they don't attend shows they used to love
how far they travel to art fairs
    their suggestions for show organizers

Laura Berarducci from the Ann Arbor Convention & Visitors Bureau also reports on the economic impact of the Ann Arbor Art Fairs in that community.

The mission of ArtFairCalendar.com is to promote the unique American tradition of art fairs by showcasing the events where art collectors find hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind fine work for sale and encourage the interaction of client and creator.

Today on the Art 4 All People airwaves we are going to have an engaging dialogue with the Co-Founder's of Art is Moving and Art 4 All People. We will talk about Art as a form of Service, Art Break Day, Volunterism, and Transformation.

There are several ways to experience art and feel its positive impact. You can make it, talk about it, look at it - all are essential and Art is Moving exists to ensure that everyone is provided the opportunity to do all three without fear. Art is Moving's annual Art Break Day involves several cities from around the world coming together to offer FREE art making to anyone and everyone. It is easy to join in the fun, You can donate, sponsor, volunteer, or host an Art Break Day in your city.

Art is Moving is Co-Founded by Lauren Odell Usher Sharpton and (Art 4 All People's) Lisa Rasmussen
