Voices Carry for Animals # 36

    in Pets

    Hosted by Debbie Dahmer

Calls for Guests with any comments or questions will be taken last half hour of the show-9:00 pm CST.

GUESTS WILL BE:  Marla Stormwolf  Founder of  STOPCRUSH.org,  Anthony Damiano  Co-Founder,  Rae Castina, Director of Investigations at stopcrush.org

"This message is from the team at stopcrush.org. Considering that most animals do not have the capacity to voice their distress in human language, we thought that this message, on their behalf, would be appropriate to send out to citizens all over the world.

For those who do not realize, animal crush video does indeed, exist. The videos generally feature, but do not limit themselves to, small live animals, such as kittens, puppies, mice and bunnies being slowly tortured in the most horrific ways imaginable.
They are burned alive, cut with pruning sheers, nailed to the floor, skinned alive, beaten, stabbed and most often, they have their limbs crushed and broken, just to invoke more screams of agony. The majority of these videos share a common theme, the animals are incrementally crushed by scantily clad women in high heels. Those who purchase these videos, view them for sexual gratification. Basically speaking, the animal crush interest is an atypical sexual arousal toward the the horrific torture and distress of another life-form.

On Thursday, December 9th, 2010, President Obama signed into law, Congressman Elton Gallegly's initiative to ban animal crush videos in the Unites States of America.

    Survival and PTSD

    in Psychology

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that often develops as the result of experiencing traumatic events, such as sexual assault, warfare, serious injury, or threats of imminent death. Disturbing recurring flashbacks, avoidance or numbing of memories of the event, and hyper-arousal are some of its associated symptoms.

Join Dr. Sadigh and his special guest, Durdane Aghayeva, and explore an incredible story of survival amid traumatic suffering. Durdane was only 20 years of age when she was injured and captured while trying to escape the most atrocious massacre in recent Azerbaijani history, the Khojaly massacre, in 1992. She has spent many years developing the courage and healing necessary to share her story. Hear firsthand what she has experienced and what has made it possible for her to survive such intense trauma.

Another dimension of Durdane’s unique story is the connection between the Jewish and Azerbaijani communities. Some people have never heard of Azerbaijan; a unique Muslim country that celebrates thousands of years of positive and respectful co-existence with Jewish residents, and 20 years of diplomacy with Israel. Azerbaijani people, like Jews and some other ethnicities, have experienced horrible tragedies. Emily Pflaster, a visionary leader who is building connection between the Jewish and Azerbaijani communities, joins Durdane in creating an enormous potential for peace, friendship and healing.

    Cowboy Wisdom Radio

    in Spirituality

Freja Njorden independent hypnotist bodyworker emotional freedom facilitator and founder of Holistic Sexual Health is my guest. Websites www.thesensualist.org  My work is my passion and I am happiest when thinking breathing, feeling, and doing what I love most. I first earned my massage diploma in New York, as well as studied the original Emotional Freedom Technique as presented by Gary Craig.  In Germany I discovered and fell in love with the simplicity and incredible effectiveness of an updated method called faster EFT. Always interested in tools for change and an improved life, I pursued education in subliminal programming, quantum touch, tantric arts and studied Mindscaping and Hypnosis.  I have been working independently with the mind-body connection and sensuality for the last 8 years, and consistently am upgrading skills, knowledge and techniques. I believe we are more mature and intelligent than the sexual culture in which we are taught sexual disconnect, objectification, compulsion, dissatisfaction and violence as the way things are.  People are unsatisfied with the intimacy in their relationships and not understanding why or how to change it.

Intensives Can Provide Intense Recovery with Carol the Coach

    in Self Help

Intensives can be an integrel part of good recovery. They typically cost less and provide a great basis for change and recovery. Carol the Coach will be interviewing Dr. Michael Howard and Ms. Stefanie Petyak who are staff of the Healing Solutions Counseling Center. They will be talking about Healing Solutions which recently began offering intensives for sex addicts, partners, and couples in recovery from sexual addiction. The flagship program is Bridge to Recovery, a 5-day intensive for men struggling with compulsive sexuality and addiction. Fist developed in 2014, this program is experiential in nature and relies heavily on group processing. It is structured around the 30-task model for treating sex addiction developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes.

During the five days, participants learn about their specific addiction cycle, associated triggers and relapse prevention strategies, as well their arousal template and delve deep into the underpinnings of their addiction and what life experiences got them to this place. Participants also do family of origin and trauma work, with each participant presenting their “trauma egg” to the rest of the group. Since sex addiction is considered an intimacy disorder, much of an addict’s growth in recovery comes from the group experience and learning how to build healthy support systems. There is simply no substitute for the clinical recovery group experience in the treatment of sexual Sexual Addiction is a disorder that requires strategies to assist you in maintaining recovery.

This show is to help you access the books, the experts and the people who are managing recovery with The 12 Step Program and Patrick Carnes Recovery Task Model that reinforces the steps you need to take to manage your recovery.

Carol the Coach is a Certified Sexual Addictions Therapist who is ready to take you on the journey and expose you to the experts who will guide you through the steps.

  • Episode 2: Second Sight, extra sensory perception and temporal lobe brain injury

    in Education

Welcome to another episode of Brain Injury Round Table. I am your host, Constance Miller, brain injury survivor of more than 30 years and Managing Director of Brain Injury Resource Center, located on the Internet at http://www.headinjury.com. At the suggestion of Mr. Tai Campbell, of Taken Back Our Communities Now, http://www.tbocn.org, tonight’s show will look into the development of heightened feeling states following brain injury. Some such heightened feelings take the form of disturbances in the autonomic nervous system. The resulting condition is known as “hyper-arousal” and describes the effect of injury on things such as heart rate and respiration. Another aspect of heightened feeling states is sometimes seen as psychic or extra sensory abilities and in many instances is seen as a gift. Others in this category might feel undone by the sudden onset of such strange reveries and might find themselves pre-occupied by feelings of uncertainty and anxiety.

It is seldom addressed by members of the profession called upon to make us whole, to take us from the point of being "patients" to being people again. Therefore, tonight  we’re going to take matters into our own hands. We’ll kick it around, swap stories and delve into another of those taboo topics associated with brain injury.

Join us for another exciting and informative episode of Disability Roundtable. thanks to all our listeners for bringing our voices, to your home, your mobile device wherever you are all around the world. Additionally, I’d like to give a big thank you to this show’s sponsors: Martha Marcum, mother of a brain injury survivor and author of MARTHA'S FABLES and Gordon Johnson, attorney of TBI Law.com. Additionally, we look forward to bringing another sponsor Mia Marcum McCoy, brain injury survivor and author of a brain injury book that she will speak with us about on a future episode.
