Hybrid Jazz - With Daniel Bennett & Michael Bowie!
Two of the most creative artists in Jazz, etc. (that EYE know, anyway!) are on the show this Tuesday, May 7th, 2013.
Daniel Bennett starts the fun at one - and he has great news: The Daniel Bennett Group's "Clockhead Goes to Camp" is available for your grateful ears :) Since 2004, Daniel has been turning out music to buy, but he has been playing for a lot longer. A multi-instrumentalis who zeroed in on saxophone at age ten and writes music via guitar, this highly regarded New Yorker wears even MORE hats. Besides leading his intuitive band, he also produces and promotes shows other than his own. He's quite good at being the spokesperson for these events - and it doesn't hurt when he shows up for them - Daniel is quite handsome as well as a talented/progressive musician. Who will not allow boxes to deter his vision. The Boston Herald calls what he does "Exploratory, Folk-Jazz Hybrid." Hah! Why do you think he's on the show?!
DC based Uber Bassist, Michael Bowie, is clearly one of those stunningly capable players that make your jaw drop. Some of the TRULY great in Jazz have thought so: Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln, Sarah Vaughn - because Michael played for them. By request. He studied under the great Keter Betts, is a National Endowment For Jazz Studies Award Winner, and has created "organic" (he loves that word!) repercussions from this region to international circles. Hey, if you're playing with Dee Dee Bridgewater, you're getting recognition - okay? Here's the reason why Michael is visiting: he has a group, Sine Qua Non (we'll ask questions :) Comprised of some of the most brilliant musical minds heard anywhere, this is (Michael's words), "Classical theory and fused with rhythms from around the world." As we say on Facebook: OMG - at three!
Get ready!

Blakely Bennett - My Body His (Erotic Suspense))
BEWITCHING TOURS March 4 - April 1st
BLAKELY BENNETT Blakley grew up in Southeast Florida and has been residing in the great Northwest for over seven years. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a degree in psychology, which accounts for her particular interest in crafting the personalities, struggles, and motivations of her characters. She is an avid reader of many genres of fiction, but especially erotica and romance. Writing has always been her bliss.
She is attracted to stories of self-struggle and ultimate recovery. Blakely is married to a wonderful, loving and supportive husband, also a writer, who helps to keep her grounded. She is a mother, a communitarian, a lover of music (always on while she is writing—thank you, Pandora), and a good friend.
An advocate of love and female empowerment, she is a facilitator for a women’s group. She loves to walk and hike for exercise and finds that, since moving to Seattle, WA, she is now one of those “crazy” people who walk in the rain. You can find Blakely on the Web at:

Show Title: Listening: An Ethical Imperative For Leadership
Hearing people are constantly bombarded with noise: traffic, sirens, radios, street noise, MP3 players, conversations of those around us, machinery and equipment operation noises, TVs, and on and on. Similarly, people who can see must tolerate the constant visual stimulation all around them. According to my guest, doctoral candidate, Kae Reynolds, somehow people learn how to filter and select attention to in order to stay oriented in the world. Our leaders are no different, they too must be able to tune out the noise and remain open to what is pertinent and purposeful to their leadership. But even more important, it is a leader’s ethical responsibility to know what to listen to. Join me and my guest, Kae Reynolds, as we explore listening in a way most have never done before.
