April Deep Aries presents Jason Michael, a native Detroiter, the biographer of "Strength of a Woman", the late great beautiful soulful singer Phyllis Hyman. Jason, Spirit of Detroit award winner, worked on the staff of Between The Lines, a Detroit based news and arts weekly, for which he has written for more than a decade. As an entertainment writer, he has interviewed everyone from Motown greats Martha Reeves and Mary Wilson to celebrities as wide ranging as Dionne Warwick, Dolly Parton and Boy George. Jason has a passion for urban music and spent a decade in the employ of Grammy award winner Betty Wright.
After being told time and time again that there was no market for a book about Phyllis Hyman, Jason formed JAM Books, LLC in 2007 to release his first book, Strength Of A Woman: The Phyllis Hyman Story.
April Deep Aries Presents Producer/Singer/Songwriter Leon Sylvers III. Leon Sylvers is the founding members of the 1970's group, The Sylvers. With hits like "Boogie Fever" and "Misdemeanor" whose music was sampled by rapper D.O.C. in the late 80s with "Its funky enough". The Sylvers have been featured on UNSUNG! Mr. Sylvers has also produced several artists over the decades like The Whispers, Shalamar, Evelyn Champagne King and one of my childhood favorites, Five Star and one of the best groups, Guy w/Teddy Riley up until 2000.
April Deep Aries presents Author/Activist Ken Jackson. Ken is the author of several books. More recently, Lost and Found - One Man's Journey from sinner to saint; An Audience of One; LIFE - Living in Fullness Everyday; Living Righteous; and Out of a Whisper - A Compilation of Christian Short Stories. Jackson earlier works, what he likes to call, his old life's works included likes of titles like Colorful Matters, As If We Never Met, Reconcilable Sacrifices, which was a three part fictional series, no longer in print. His film projects included a documentary called Just Between Us and a feature film colorfully titled, Keith and Greg, also no longer in distribution. As an artist, Jackson does not shy away from interesting story-lines and culturally dynamic news headlines. But as Jackson puts it, "The world of Ken Jackson is anything but boring."

He is originally from Brooklyn, New York is a 37 year-old poet that has been commended for writing in such a mature, experienced manner in spite of no formal training or teaching in the literary arts. He has read his work at various venues including Medgar Evers College, The Harlem Tea room, Newark Public Library & Ripley-Grier Studios.
His first self-published release, "One Man’s Journey" is a collection of poetry birthed out of personal life experiences over a span of twelve years.

April Deep Aries presents Poet/Author Vernon J. Davis Jr. Vernon has been writing poetry since the early seventies. He was first inspired by Langston Hughes's poem "Impasse", which started his journey and adventure into the world of poetry and the spoken word. Vernon's 2nd book of poetry--"The Emosewa Woman"--was released Feb. 14th, 2010. He is currently working on his 3rd Book of Poetry, Tenatively Titled, "Her, She, Woman"(Her, She--Hershey(Chocolate) Woman).
Cynda began a professional life of acting and singing after relocating to New York from her native Chicago. Her debut film MO' BETTER BLUES directed by Spike Lee, was a critical and commercial success. Blessed with a role that also required singing, her song HARLEM BLUES went #1 on the R&B charts. That film opened the door to her next performance in Carl Franklin's ONE FALSE MOVE - the true icebreaker for Cynda's career. This break out independent film appeared on many Best Film lists and Cynda was nominated for the coveted Spirit Award.
Cynda has since appeared in numerous films including: Stewart Wade’s TRU LOVED, John Nolte’s BEAUTIFUL LOSER, Salvador Litvak's WHEN DO WE EAT, Billy Wirth's MACARTHUR PARK, P.J. Castellante's RELAX...IT'S JUST SEX, Darin Scott's CAUGHT UP and Wesley Strick's THE TIE THAT BINDS. She has also performed memorable quality television roles including: BET's HIDDEN BLESSINGS, LIFETIME'S THE COURAGE TO LOVE, HBO's DOROTHY DANDRIDGE, Oprah Winfrey's ABC miniseries, THE WEDDING and PBS' TALES OF THE CITY.
