    in Sports

@wcsteelerfan, aka James E King III presents 'Tha PUGILIST KOrner, our weekly show dedicated to the art of boxing, on both the amatuer and professional levels.

As with every infant, the PUGILIST KOrner began as a seed. After listening to so many 'boxing shows', I wanted to create something totally different  Most shows I heard had hosts' and panelists' crowing their expertise and resounding boxing knowledge.  What happened to the fighter?  My show is about the fighter and this beloved Sport we watch and anticipate with baited breath.  We interview all of the fighters with a sense of respect and admiration, they deserve, for entertaining us, with their craft.

When schedules permit, I'll be joined by a guest co-host boxer, past or present,  Join us as I interview our various guests, review the bouts of the week, talk about upcoming matches, and answer questions posed by callers/listeners.  Watch for our 'Press Release', usually Tuesday morning, announcing our guest co-host and guests for the evening show.

032415 Francine DelMonte-Chair Niagara USA Development Corporation

    in Politics

For the first time in a long time, all three cities in Niagara County are having a mayor's race.

In Lockport, the folks there, are discussing the first announced candidate to run against the incumbent Mayor, Anne E. McCaffrey. Michael J. Pillot, a retired policeman who lost races for mayor of Lockport in 2007 and 2011, is trying again. It's still early so there may be others.

In North Tonawanda, people seem to be a little more tight lipped about a run against the incumbent mayor.

North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas is still on his political honeymoon.

Before becoming mayor, Pappas was on the North Tonawanda School Board for 17 years, including a decade as its president.

He was handily elected last November to fill the seat of alderman-at-large following the sudden death of Robert Clark, but after just two weeks as alderman he was tapped to become mayor when then Mayor Ortt resigned to become state senator.

Back at home we are starting to see how this year's campaign is shaping up. Alicia Laible, former Democrat City Committee Chairperson here in Niagara Falls is announcing her 2nd bid to run for Niagara Falls city Council.

Like it or not, the Modern Diposal contract is good for five years, this is no longer about Modern, this is about the city managing this service in a way that it is adequate, fair and cost-effective.

Now let's get to our guest former assemblywoman and now chairman of the board of USA Niagara development Corporation Francine DelMonte.

Big Dog Radio Welcomes Lady of the Ring, Amy Hayes

    in Sports

Tune in Tuesday at 2 PM CST as Big Dog Radio welcomes Lady of the Ring, Amy Hayes.

Born in Michigan, Amy’s father was a broadcaster for a local radio station, so her fondness for announcing started at an early age. As an all-star athlete tomboy, she always played hard. Tomboy or not, her appealing looks landed her, her first gig as a ring card girl, and from there, her love for the, “sweet science” blossomed. Amy was a radio disk jockey, in Detroit, and in 2001 she not only embarked on a career as a ring announcer for the late Dan Goosen, she started making history. Hayes started announcing for Fox Sports News, and thus far is believed to be the first lady to hold that title as ring announcer.

She has appeared on Fox Sports Net, ESPN 2’s Friday Night Fights, USA, and Showtime. She is credited as announcing the first episode of Showtime’s ShoBox: The New Generation. Her announcing has taken her around the world, and as any good ring announcer, she created her very own catch phrase, “It’s time to separate the men from the boys!”

Aside from broadcasting and announcing, Amy is a model, and has been featured in various publications such as Playboy and Maxim. She has also appeared in numerous ads.

Amy has proven that the fight world is just not for the boys, they must make room for the girls. Amy is the first, “Lady of the Ring.”

Tune in as the host, the Big Dog Benny Henderson Jr. gets the thoughts of Amy on her career and more.
