Most of us have experienced glass shattering. When we know it is falling, we have two choices, reach for it and try to keep it from hitting something hard, or just let it fall and then clean up the various sized pieces.
Our lives can be like breaking glass at times. We can see that something is about to happen and we can either try to stop it or just let it happen and pick up the pieces, salvage what is salvagable and toss the rest, or just release it all. How do we decide? How do we know wat is right in the moment? It is somewhat intuition, some reflex action, and some just wait and see.
On Friday, May 22, Purpose Talk Radio host Cindy Freeman will help you answer these and other questions. You are invited to call in and share your own experiences as well. The number is 347-205-9075 or you can Skype in after the show starts.

The topic today is, 'Is Your Life Like a Wilderness?" Why is this so important? Because many could answer "yes" with reference to a point in time. Perhaps you can identify with your life as a wilderness in the past or maybe even now.
A wilderness is a place where it is difficult, if not impossible, to move, to navigate through, to see where you are or have been or are headed. A wilderness is a place where choices are not readily identifiable; it's a place in which thinking is fuzzy, problems may be mountingand directions are almost non-existent.
Soliutions from the world are plentiful but leave most prople with lttle hope of lasting change that leads to a renewed sense of who you are, where you are to go and wat you are to do. My guess is that all of us have made commitments to effect different results at various levels of our lives, with less than stellar results. Each of us has been at this place...a place in which attempting to do the right thing just doesn't seem to fit like it should. It may seem like a puzzle, but its not. There is a way in and there is a way out "When Life Is Like a Wilderness." Let's find it.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the official repository of the permanently valuable records of the U.S. Government. NARA's vast holdings document the lives and experiences of persons who interacted with the Federal Government. The records created by post-Civil War Federal Agencies are perhaps some of the most important records available for the study of black family life and genealogy. This discussion will focus on NARA's Reference Information Paper 108.
This reference information paper describes three post-Civil War Federal agencies' records: the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands; the Freedman's Savings and Trust Company; and the Commissioners of Claims. Case examples will be shared to illustrate the value of researching these important records.
Reginald Washington is a retired archivist/ genealogy specialist with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). He lectures frequently on records and research procedures at the National Archives, and has served as the African-American Genealogy Subject Area Specialist at NARA. He has spoken at conferences of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, National Genealogical Society, Federation of Genealogical Societies, National Institute on Genealogical Research, and numerous local genealogical societies and clubs.
While AElus' thunders round us roar,And sweep impetuous o'er the plainBe still, O tyrant of the main;Nor let thy brow contracted frowns betray,While my Susanna skims the wat'ry way.The Pow'rpropitioushearsthe lay,
The blue-ey'd daughters of the sea
With sweeter cadence glide along,
And Thames responsive joins the song.
Pleas'd with their notes Sol sheds benign his ray,
And double radiance decks the face of day.
To court thee to Britannia's arms
Serene the climes and mild the sky,
Her region boasts unnumber'd charms,
Thy welcome smiles in ev'ry eye.
Thy promise, Neptune keep, record my pray'r,
Not give my wishes to the empty air.
