SORT BY Relevancy
Texas has been known to breed some of the loudest and hard-rockin’ bands this side of Dallas and this new gang of five are definitely no exception. Straight out of the saloons and strip clubs comes ANCHORED, a hard-edged rock unit that packs as much pop as their punch when they unleash their brand of “Dirty Texas Rock”. Crossing the tainted lines between Shinedown, Nickelback and Stone Temple Pilots, these Dallas transplants will be bringing their Southern noise to the masses in 2010 and everybody is invited.
Formed in the spring of 2009 as a new project by ex-Advent singer Brandan Narrell whose chance meeting with guitarist B.G. Simpson (formally of South Florida alternative rockers Waking Season) sparked a friendship and partnership after being introduced by Splender leader Waymon Boone. Joining the tandem is drummer Matty Clark, who previously held down drum duties for the Sacramento, CA band Bidwell, current Faktion guitarist Josh Franklin handling the bass duties, and ex-Venture guitarist Joel Estes rounding out the quintet on guitars. As all the members garnered moderate success with their post-Anchored outfit, their previous experiences honing their collective craft as musicians have them poised to interrupt the current climate of active rock for some time to come.
Front man Brandan was originally recommended by the legendary ex-Pantera and current Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul, to audition for the singer vacancy in Drowning Pool shortly after singer Dave Williams had passed away while Waking Season and Faktion were all touring the country around the same time in the mid-2000s on national tours in support of the likes of Papa Roach, Hinder and Seether. There is something to be said about the level of talent that comprises the newly-formed Anchored.

What was normal today it appears to be perverted and what is not normal appears to be normal with a weird twist. It was normal for a man and woman to get married now it is called normal for two men or two women to get married. There is no more shame you do whatever you feel like doing and it hould be accepted. This are the things that touble many it appears up is down and down is up.Right is wrong and wrong is right. What entertainers used to entertain on stage is for daily fashion. Blue hair, mixed color hair, too big clothes and the list is endless. Things are twisted up like a world wind and if you are not anchored in Jesus and his word you will be caught up into this world wind and be destroyed.
The King of kings has ordained a time for shaking everything that can be shaken. People who have built their lives on the shifting sands of temporal possessions and positions are facing circumstances that will sweep away the things of this life only, because only things anchored to the eternal realities of a kingdom invisible to those who have all their treasures in this life, will survive the coming storms. God's people can hear His voice and instructions. God's people are able to trust in the invisible and eternal laws of God, and He has promised to be their fortress and their hiding place in the season of great adversity that is coming upon this generation. Men have built their underground hiding places, but they will not escape the wrath of the One they have rebelled against. Who is on the Lord's side?

Since 1969, I've been a just-the-facts-ma'am journalist working in radio and television newsrooms in Wisconsin, Germany, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. Highlights of my career include getting tear gassed while covering the anti-Vietnam War riots in 1970 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; doing a 40-minute, one-on-one radio interview with Alfred Hitchcock in 1973 during my stint in the Army at the American Forces Network (AFN)-Europe; and covering the White House for CBN News during the last three years of Ronald Reagan's presidency.
In 1988, I joined CNN as a writer. From 2001 to 2005, I supervised the writing on "Daybreak" anchored by Carol Costello. From 2005 to 2013, I was a Senior Copy Editor on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer." In March of 2013 I retired from CNN after 25 years with the network. I now write full time.
I grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin and earned a BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1977).
The name DeDakis first appeared in the Chicago phone book about 1915 as a typographical error. My grandfather, who had just immigrated from Greece, felt the accidental capitalization of the second D made the name look more "dignified" so, Dedakis became DeDakis.
It's pronounced dih-DAY-kiss, by the way. www.johndedakis.com
