74 - Russ Martin Schools Us on Cinema

    in Pop Culture

Russ Martin, an old pal of Biff's is all about "cinema". We talk about a lot of Batman, a little Ant Man, Captain America and Wolverine.
Plus, Teddy Rubskin hops in on this show and shares his opinions on things. (we think his Bat-Radar was operating at high frequencies)
We question if cinema an edangered species with all this blockuster hoopla happening all around us? Will a comic book movie EVER win an Oscar for Best Picture? Will Ant Man suck, or is Biff wrong yet again (like he was about Guardians)? We're in for another instant classic, for sure, so hold on to those ticket stubs, folks!

CUTV News Radio spotlights Carol Koziol of Natural Courage

    in Self Help

London, Ontario – We all seek the courage to strive through change, but if you can believe and act on what’s in your heart, courage comes naturally.

Carol Koziol is a self-described “courage coach” and the founder of Natural Courage, where she serves as a guide  to help people experiencing change by naturally reconnecting their inner and outer world. Carol says she likes to work with people who are ready to turn their bucket lists into highlight reels.

“I reconnect people to their courage,” says Carol. “Everyone has natural courage so it’s about becoming aware of it by remembering our strengths, our values.”

According to Carol, there’s great wisdom in the cycles of nature and how people feel and respond to nature. A conversation over a desk is one thing; a walk on a path can produce totally different results. Carol is deeply passionate about the natural environment and will often weave nature into the work both as a metaphor and a modality.

“I used nature as a metaphor to catalyze change within me,” says Carol. “We come from nature. There’s no stress. There’s no intensity. It’s softer. It’s gentler. It’s what I’ve experienced and catalyzed and use with my clients.”

Carol is currently pursuing a PhD in ecopsychology, which studies the relationship between people and nature.

“The longest journey a person gets to make is the 18 inches from their head to their heart,” says Carol. “I often wonder if more people were encouraged to get out of their heads and find the courage to reconnect to their hearts, perhaps we would live in a better world.”

RUTH MINNIKIN live show + interview

    in Travel

Ruth Minnikin is a Canadian singer-songwriter formerly of The Heavy Blinkers, Booming Airplanes and The Guthries and Reels. She now performs as Ruth Minnikin and her Bandwagon on Jeju Island and around Korea.

She received nominations for Best Female Album and Best Folk Album at the 2007 Nova Scotia Music Awards and has performed at the East Coast Music Awards, South by Southwest, and North by Northeast and has contributed to 45 recordings in collaboration with other artists.

She had this to say about her latest record 'The Minnikins' Photo Album', released before leaving Nova Scotia 2 years ago:

"Undeniably my heart was swollen as I wrote, but I daydream that my next bout of inspiration comes from love, salt water and the children I will teach on Jeju Island over the next year. Or, the waves on The East China Sea may swell into sounds of longing and heartache for Canada, the Atlantic Ocean and it’s folks-"

This interview and live performance were recorded the weekend of 01.10.15 at Blue Hill in Jeju City.
