    The Fear of Being Alone

    in Family

A surprising number of people fear being alone. Maybe just about all of us do to some extent.

We fear being without a partner, or friends and family. We fear traveling alone in strange places, lost without anyone to ask for help. We fear taking on life without help, for fear of failure. This is natural, this fear of being alone. We’ve all felt it, deep within us, though we try desperately to avoid this fear. And this is the cause of our misery: to avoid this fear of being alone, we will socialize endlessly, including on social networks and email. To avoid being alone, we’ll end up with someone who isn’t really good for us, just to have someone to cling to, someone to rely on. We’ll eat junk food or shop to comfort ourselves, because these things are replacements for love.

But here’s the secret: being alone is empowering. The quiet of being alone is joyful. We tend to see aloneness as bleak, depressing, scary. But it can be seen as freeing, as an opportunity for growth, an opportunity to get to know yourself. This is something I’ve been learning the hard way. I had the fear of aloneness for many years, but learning emotional self-sufficiency is one of the best things I’ve done. Sit quietly for a minute, now, and turn inward. Who are you? What are you capable of? What do you think about?

Can you accept yourself, when you look closely at yourself?

Can you see the beauty in yourself, as you learn something new? As you contemplate life?

This is nothing to fear, but to celebrate. Aloneness is beauty.

    Mastering the Art of Aloneness

    in Health

More people are living single lives than ever before. In the US today, there are 95.7 million singles, representing nearly half of all adults. Despite these numbers, attitudes have changed remarkably little. There's still a mid-set that if you're single there must be something wrong with you, and most people believe that marriage is the ideal lifestyle.
On this show, we'll discuss the stigma of aloneness and Lauren Mackler's ground-breaking, step-by-step road map for gaining mastery of your own life, so you can achieve a sense of wholeness and well-being on your own or in a relationship.

Featured Guest: Lauren Mackler - International Bestselling author of "Solemate: Master the Art of Aloneness"

    Living in Gratitude!

    in Spirituality

I’m so grateful to share in space together again, as we enter what is known to many of us, as the “Season of Giving”!

While being in this special season, (you know, “a reason to believe” kinda energy and season), MotherEarth still turns, every day, human life, continues forward.  We continue to evolve, living/dying/rebirthing.  Each of us, on the same Earth, living different lives, writing different stories,  having different feelings; feelings of all colors, or as I like to say “energias”, like, gratitude…hurt, joy, aloneness.

So, how do you experience the feeling of Gratitude?  Even when life takes a turn and we can’t understand why or we can’t explain why or we just, can’t, how can we always live in Gratitude… a deep space of gratitude?  I’m referring to a deep gratitude that allows us to honor all that we are, and all that we experience, in every moment of our present lives.

To help guide us through this dance with the feeling of “Gratitude, on this Thanks Giving Day, I’m so excited to share my sacred list of, “My 13 I am grateful (s)…”  May this special list and the soft reflection it gives of the world we live in, help us to live from a space of gratitude, every day, every moment, of our precious lives!

Looking forward to sharing in Gratitude and honoring this magickal and special 13th episode of Transforming Gifts talk show!

    Love, Peace, and Harmony, siempre~

Whisperings: quiet sounds from the heart

    in Culture

“A society must assume that it is stable, but the artist must know, and he must let us know, that there is nothing stable under heaven.”

“The sole purpose of human existence,” Carl Jung wrote in his reflections of life and death in 1957, “is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.” Five years later, in one of his least well-known but most enchanting works, the great novelist, playwright, poet, essayist, and cultural critic James Baldwin argued for this existential kindling of light as the sole purpose of the artist’s life.

Perhaps the primary distinction of the artist is that he must actively cultivate that state which most men, necessarily, must avoid; the state of being alone. That all men are, when the chips are down, alone, is a banality — a banality because it is very frequently stated, but very rarely, on the evidence, believed. Most of us are not compelled to linger with the knowledge of our aloneness, for it is a knowledge that can paralyze all action in this world. There are, forever, swamps to be drained, cities to be created, mines to be exploited, children to be fed. None of these things can be done alone. But the conquest of the physical world is not man’s only duty. He is also enjoined to conquer the great wilderness of himself. The precise role of the artist, then, is to illuminate that darkness, blaze roads through that vast forest, so that we will not, in all our doing, lose sight of its purpose, which is, after all, to make the world a more human dwelling place.

Dr. Margaret Paul Joins Sister Jenna to Discuss Inner Bonding

    in Self Help

“We can meditate for hours. We can be in nature, practice yoga, read spiritual literature, listen to uplifting music and do many other things that help to raise our frequency. But if our intent is to control rather than to learn about loving ourselves and others, our frequency will not go high enough to access the love, wisdom and guidance that is always here for us.” - Dr. Margaret Paul
