Westhill Consulting Career & Employment out of Australia has many more tips and warnings about working in Southeast Asia.
1. What are the benefits of working abroad?
There are so many its hard to only pick a few! If you study or specialize in a foreign language, an obvious benefit of working abroad is immersion into your target language. You’ll also be fully experiencing a new culture, which typically proves both challenging and rewarding. Professionally speaking, employers find candidates with extended experience abroad attractive, as it showcases an individual’s understanding of the global economy. Working in a multi-cultural office often means developing advanced intercultural and interpersonal skills. You could test out the experience of working abroad by taking a working holiday - see our article: 10 Paycations: how to make money on holiday - but you’ll never know the benefits unless you take the leap of faith and try to work abroad - go for it!
2. What types of jobs are on offer for those looking to work overseas?
The most common job pursued abroad is teaching English. Those who speak English as a native language find that their skills and expertise are in high demand in a range of (often well paying) locations.

I was looking a book to read and some one recommened "Sweeps" by Stephen Brown. The first Book of a series invloving Ensign Samuel Wallace and his adventures on board Minesweepers. After serving on three different minesweeps I could not resist the chance to read a book about minesweeps (which by the way are very hard to find)
I just ordered the next two books "Track of the Teasure" and "Wrath of the Eagle"
Vancouver, BC – Planning for the long-term is something nearly every business struggles with. Most businesses can only plan a month to two months ahead, but it’s about having strategies that will take you years into the future. You need to think three to five years down the road. If the purpose of your business is to turn a profit, what are you doing to ensure that that happens?
Diane Baker is the founder of RiskAssist Consulting, which specializes in providing comprehensive risk management solutions to give business owners the peace of mind they expect. No matter what kind of business you run, RiskAssist Consulting can identify your operational vulnerabilities and strengths while working on your behalf to deliver an insurance program that minimizes your exposures for potential loss.
“Everyone is thinking short-term. That’s where a risk manager comes in, to encourage long-term strategic thinking,” says Baker. “It takes somebody with an objective point of view to encourage that conversation, someone who understands the business process.”
Risk management can ensure your business meets its long-term goals by adding certainty to your operations. Whether you’re a building owner, manufacturer or real estate company, the same questions apply to every business.
“It’s a matter of paying attention. It’s a matter of asking for help,” says Baker. “Yes, you’ve done very well; you’ve built a successful business but where do you go from here? What do you as a business owner hope to achieve?"
“What’s missing today is the enthusiasm,” says Baker. “Business owners need to feel the process has already begun. Sometimes the simple act of asking the right questions and strategizing is enough to ignite the ‘fire” and excitement within. That energy will get you moving in the right direction."
Meet author Donovan Martin Neal. Donovan will be my guest this Sunday, July 6th on the Author Chat Show. I will be 'chatting' with Donovan about his book, The Third Heaven: The Rise of Fallen Stars The Third Heaven Series.
About the book:
The Third Heaven: The Rise of Fallen Stars is book one of a three part series that tells of the fascinating story of the Fall of Lucifer. Lucifer, God’s perfect creation and who dwelt in his very presence, walked in the midst of the stones of fire. Yet rose up to betray the Lord and bring Heaven itself to civil war. Many tales have referenced this great angelic war but few have sought to explore the dynamic relationships between God and the angelic hosts. Why did a third of heaven seek to overthrow their creator? See Lucifer and his actions in a light never before seen. Journey back to the beginning, and see the drama unfold before your eyes: as allegiances are broken; choices made, and why all of creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. The prequel to the Bible is here!
About the author:
Donovan Neal M. S. N. P. has served in the ordained ministry and as an instructor in the Bible for 20 years, and is the author of the self-published book, ‘The Gospel Explained.’ Donovan is also a prolific songwriter and singer having written over 50 different songs of praise and worship for the local church, and has performed in various schools and churches in the Ministry of Christian rap.
Eighty-two people were shot in Chicago over the July 4th weekend. Fourteen of those people died. Most of the victims were Black and Latino men.
Dr. Roger A. Mitchell has made it his personal crusade to put an end to the senseless violence that consumes far too many sons and brothers, daughters and sisters, and that lays waste to entire communities. Named by Mayor Vincent Gray in Washington, DC as Chief Medical Examiner earlier this year after a stint as Regional Medical Examiner in New Jersey, Dr. Mitchell is breathing life into his unique profession of forensic pathology by sharing vital information with communities and invigorating a movement that had lost its focus. He talks to us about his heavy charge as Chief Medical Examiner, about his mission to save Black lives, and about his forthcoming memoir, The Price of Freedom: A Son's Journey.

Meet author Bill Johnson. Bill will be my guest on the Author Chat Show on Sunday June 29th to promote his new book: A Story is a Promise & The Spirit of Storytelling.
About the book:
Bill Johnson's writing workbook has three sections, each designed to help new and experienced authors alike to better understand the craft of storytelling. A Story is a Promise explores the mechanics of how a story transports an audience. Deep Characterization explores what happens when story characters are an extension of authors. The Spirit of Storytelling suggests techniques for authors to create characters with fully realized inner lives; characters who are vibrant, dynamic, and resonate with readers. The book includes an outline of The Lovely Bones and detailed reviews of Romeo and Juliet (the play), The Heidi Chronicles (play), The Shawshank Redemption The Usual Suspects (movies), and The Exorcist (novel). These reviews are meant to help writers understand the underlying process that creates popular stories. From author Carolyn J Rose, "Bill's work made me take a longer look at what matters to readers - and what matters to me as a reader - at the emotional core. I feel my characters are deeper and more memorable because of what I learned."
