At the age of 11, Afredo Diaz, and his family moved back to the U.S. from Puerto Rico. Alfredo was now writing short stories and drawing, which he continued to do through high school. Along the way, he added a few more art forms to his repertoire: he was a graffiti artist, a tattoo artist, and even started making posters for local musicians. It was around this time he fell into the underground society of NYC and went through a dark period in his life…until he met his present mentor one day while driving a limo and she encouraged him to keep writing. Writing turned into screenwriting, screenwriting turned into filmmaking and filmmaking turned into acting. Acting has taken over in a way he probably never would have expected. He’s studied acting with currently some of the best teachers, like Larry Moss, John Dapolito from AWG and Marketa Kimbrell from NYU Tisch. He’s been working since either as a hired actor or creating his own work and collaborating with other artists. As a playwright he's had his work up at The Barrow Group Theater where his play I Saved a Sewer Rat made it to the semi finals of the Networks One Act Festival. He also worked on a feature film called Override that played at several festivals, including The Hamptons Film Festival. Some of his other films include Holy Sapian with Charlie McDermott and Over the Harlem Moon. Alfredo has also received positive reviews for his work on stage. In Our Lady of 121st Street at The Queens Theater, Alfredo played the role of Balthazar, a cantankerous alcoholic and for For Petes Sake where he played Voice 2, the wild man in a dark comedy. Alfredo also originated the role of John Ryan in the play, Like You, which was part of a show entitled, Men Without Myth produced by BTC Productions at Urban Stages. “I am delighted that Alan Gross has been released from Cuban confinement in an exchange that also involved the release of an Americans spy in jail for 20 years, along with three convicted Cuban spies in America going back to Cuba; and I am thrilled that President Obama will open negotiations with Cuba to resume full diplomatic ties more than 50 years after they were cut off. Special thanks are due to John Kerry who made normalized relations with Cuba a priority when he was nominated for Secretary of State by President Obama. I am also thankful for the direct assistance of Pope Francis and the Vatican and the help that Canada rendered over the last 18 months to make this day possible.Rev Jesse Jackson Sr

Running a Marathon is tough, when it takes 5 hours, even tougher. Richard Diaz shares tips with a runner who struggles to break the 5 hour barrier. Marathon Running Tips that focus on what to do and how to feed when the race takes longer than planned.
Look at any major Marathon and you’ll see that greater than half of the participants run within the 5 hour range. This may be because more and more people are meeting the challenge than ever before. Unfortunately, there is little information provided for these runners. Most of what is written on training focuses on runners who hope to run in the sub-4 hour finish time. One of our listeners asked that we address this problem and serve up some running tips. If you are running a marathon for the first time, or have struggled when you are beyond 20 miles, this show is for you!
