If you only know the name of a grandparent, then how do you go back three or four generations to find their slave ancestors?
Konnetta Alexander shares touching stories of finding her slave ancestors going back three and four generations. With inspiration from journal entries of an Antebellum, slave account book written by slaveholder Daniel Graham, the lives of unrelated slaves provides documentation of slave life from which Konnetta uses as her guidebook to find and document slaves. While making national presentations about the life of Matila Graham, house slave, Konnetta tells the story of every house slave! Calling out the last names of her slave ancestors: Clark, Miller, Moorman, Peay, Prince, Quinn and Ramsey. Join in as discoveries unfold in Finding Our Slaves.
With 20+ years of genealogy digging, Konnetta has three projects: researching family, transcribing and making public excerpts of the slave journal, and performing interpretative presentations about the lives of Free Persons of Color and Slaves. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, is an annual participant of MAAGI (Mid-Western African American Genealogy Institute), and member of several historical societies. The focus of Konnetta’s genealogy research is finding, documenting and personalizing slaves, whether family nor not.

"Remember the TV series Mr. Ed (Centered around a talking horse)? Many do, but do you know who the voice of Mr. Ed was? Linda J Alexander does. She wrote a book about Allan "Rocky" Lane. But before he was the "voice" of Mr. Ed .... he was a 1940s/50s cowboy hero that many kids cheered … each and every Saturday, at the local theater. And before that …. he had several different roles, credited and uncredited, in over 56 movies, in the 1930’s. His personal life had as many ups and downs, as did his acting career, and … few really knew the real Allan Lane. Linda J Alexander probably knows Lane better than any of his co-workers, or even any of his four wives. Debbie will be talking to Ms. Alexander about her newly released book, “I am Mister Ed … Allan “Rocky” Lane Revealed”
Ms. Alexander will also be discussing the upcoming re-release of her previously written work, “Reluctant Witness … Robert Taylor … Hollywood and Communism.” In fact, she has written several books, not only about old Hollywood …. but fiction, as well. And there is more … Linda J Alexander is on a mission. A mission to find a brother that she did not know existed two years ago.
Join us for one power-packed hout with Linda J Alexander! Better still, call in and talk with Ms. Alexander, personally. The call-in number is (323) 792-3071.

Alexander O'Neal (born November 15, 1953) is an American R&B singer. He is best known for the songs "If You Were Here Tonight", "Criticize" and "Fake" and the duets with Cherrelle, "Saturday Love" and "Never Knew Love Like This"O'Neal was born in Natchez, Mississippi, but moved to Minneapolis when he was 20. He is an alumnus of Alcorn State University. He joined a group called "The Mystics" and played the local coverband circuit. O'Neal spent a short time in a group "Enterprise" before being recruited into Flyte Tyme, a band that included Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Monte Moir.
Later signed by Prince to the Warner Bros. label with their name changed to The Time, a disagreement with Prince led to O'Neal leaving the band and being replaced as lead singer by Morris Day. Allmusic profiler John Floyd asserts that O'Neal was ousted for "looking 'too black'",.
O'Neal immediately formed an R&B band called Alexander and recorded a 12" single, "Playroom," for a Chicago-based independent label, followed by the release of "Attitude" on the Rich Records Label. Three years later, in 1984, O'Neal signed a deal with Clarence Avant's Tabu Records. He did some backing vocals for other artists on the same label, including The SOS Band and Cherrelle.
O'Neal released his eponymous debut album in 1985. It included three singles that reached the top twenty of the R&B Singles Chart. The same year, he also scored his first R&B top ten single with "Saturday Love", a duet with Cherrelle from her High Priority album. "Saturday Love" song peaked at #2, and it also reached the top ten of the UK Singles Chart, peaking at #6.
