Press release: Kaz Hawkins was mainly underground for a number of years as a secret songwriter. Based in East Belfast, she is now firmly established as one of the foremost and biggest singers to come out of Northern Ireland. Described as a 'Vocal Force' on stage, she encompasses the fighting spirit of a true powerhouse singer of blues, soul and rock 'n roll. With comparisons to her idol Etta James, Mavis Staples and Janis Joplin, Kaz's live performances are noted for the fun she brings as well as the emotional intensity and for her down to earth attitude. Her song writing skills which have developed over the years spent underground, enable her to write across different genres, and her debut album 'Get Ready' showcases this exciting and eclectic mix of songs that echo her life including the title track 'Get Ready' which offers hope to the community of East Belfast as well as some much needed peace and love.
It will, as always, be a lot of fun with lots of laughs discussions, so please join us by listening in, either on your computer device or phone, and join us in chat as well. Call in number is 646-716-6207

Powerful, sultry, dynamic, and moving are just a few words people have used to describe Adesha’s voice. Though Deltrina had no idea her daughter’s name meant voice, she knew Adesha was destined to sing.
Oakland, California native, Adesha made her solo debut singing for hundreds of people at The War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco at the tender age of six. By age ten she had starred and co-starred in musicals, she sang a jingle for a commercial, and had performed solo at a few of San Francisco’s live music venues. Years of training from singing in church; vocal coaching from her mother Deltrina Johnson, a trained gospel singer; and numerous live performances would follow the training she received in her primary years. At age 13 Adesha joined a girl group called “Under 21”. The trio spent most of their high school career performing and in the recording studio. At age 16 Adesha embarked upon a spiritual journey that would change the course of her future. Being famous was no longer her life’s goal. She wanted her music to make a difference; she wanted her music to change lives. This decision would lead to Adesha leaving “Under 21”. The resistance she experienced from her cohorts, management, and peers as a result of her decision sent Adesha into a bit of a depression. She would spend the next 4 years soul searching and took hiatus from singing. To date Adesha and "Seven" have played a list of venues from San Francisco to LA. They have opened for Ledisi, Goapele, Gospel diva Kim Burrell, Kase, Anthony David, Carl Thomas and more. Adesha recently released a dance EP entitled “Giving Love a Try” which is soon to be followed by her first full length album “Giving Love a Try”.
Only a handful of singers succeed in transcending their genre without losing the essence of who they are. Superstar Maxi Priest is one of those artists whose own unique vision has led him to tremendous international success, being the first reggae artist to have a No. 1 hit worldwide, including the U.S. Billboard charts.
His new album, Easy To Love is as fine a representation of lovers’ rock as you could possibly wish for. The sophistication he brings to these tracks is the mark of true quality; his effortless blend of reggae, R&B and dancehall has universal appeal.
Lead single “Easy To Love,” was a No. 1 smash hit on the reggae charts last summer –evidence that Maxi Priest has a gift for staying fresh. The song features the legendary Jamaican drum and bass duo Sly & Robbie, who’ve played on some of Maxi’s biggest hits, including “Wild World,” “Some Guys Have All The Luck,” “Close To You,” and “Housecall” (featuring Shabba Ranks), as well as the new album track “Every Little Thing.”
“Without A Woman” features Beres Hammond, and echoes the themes and intensity of James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.” Maxi and Beres’ musical partnership began years ago with the crossover hit “How Can We Ease The Pain.” Time has deepened the understanding between them and there’s so much soul in this track it hurts. “This song is an appreciation for all women and a gift from the artists,” says Maxi. “Sometimes we forget to simply say ‘thank you’ – as without you, there is no us.”
“This album is about time, and a moment,” says Maxi Priest. When singing “Angel Wings,” Maxi envisioned himself in Jamaica surrounded by nature. T
Salme is an electro pop dance music artist, also known as the licensing queen because of her ability to license all of her songs for media use. She is a one-woman dynamo on the razor’s edge of mass appeal with radio ready songs like "Superstar Car Crash" and tracks like "C'Mon Y'All" that are good sound and good fun. With songs on the Billboard Dance Chart and the Global Dance TraxTop 100, she never stops. This summer alone she has released a new single, a new video and a new album. And we will play samples from all of them when we talk with her Friday August 1.
