    The17thAngieBowieBarnett/RickHuntBlogTalkRadioShow#17withCHICK CASHMAN

    in Entertainment

Chick Cashman is a great guitarist, song writer, film and documentary director, events coordinator hailing from Tucson Az. with time in Los Angeles CA, New York and Europe. Chick is a frequent guest on albums from around the world. Chick was featured as a prime player in my book 'Lipstick Legends,' and is a frequent performer in Tucson at the Congress Hotel and all the other happening venues and theaters.

"He has worked with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Friends of Dean Martin and Angie Bowie. His Film scores include Glenn O’ Brien’s  TV Party and Star Pets. However, for several years in the 1990’s he  transformed into the cross dressing Mr. Chick Cashman the Swingin’ Cowboy. He and his crack band The Countrypoltians were hosts to humorously popular  weekly burlesque/ variety show at Club Congress. What started out innocently enough became Tucson’s own Sodom and Gomorah–drag queens, GoGo dancers, foul mouth comics and even a few animal acts were not uncommon. In between these acts the band would play trashy instrumental music—a ‘cross’ between Link Wray  and the NY Dolls. Cashman prided himself on including many local musicians as well as national touring acts to perform on his show. Chick has been tight-lipped on his plans for the evening, but he has hinted that the performance will make the old variety show appear more like the Lawrence Welk show in contrast. Chick Cashman,  like Clif Taylor, is a Capricorn."

    in Books

Tonight Bonnie welcomes back author Cary Black, author of “Katrina—A Freight Train Screamin’,” and his lovely wife, Gretchen Schott, who is a musical performer and writer. This year marks the 10 year anniversary of Huricane Katrina, one of the worst hurricanes to ever hit Louisianna destroying lives and homes forever.

Katrina—A Freight Train Screamin’ is a most inspirational book to honor those people who rescued others during Hurricane Katrina's destruction ten years ago in some of our Southern states--especially Louisiana. Since Cary was last with us, he met his beautiful wife Gretchen which ironically was through the writing of the book. Cary and Gretchen have become a team not only in marriage, but also in writing, music, and hosting their own radio show. Gretchen and her family were victims of the Hurricane, and tonight we'll hear about the heroism and strength of the people through this crisis.

Cary and Gretchen have co-authored a children's book about Katrina titled French Quarter Tori and the Red Owl  that we will discuss,

Bonnie Kaye's Books of Excellence Radio Show with guest Bobbie Bean

    in Books

Tonight I am happy to welcome back Bobbie Bean who is the author of "Shattered Dreams, Broken Patriot," His book tells the tragic story of a vicious attack by a town bully that snowballs into a series of horrific acts by a small Florida town. His family moved to Sebring, Florida, to build their American Dream. Instead, they discovered how selfishness, corruption, and the abuse of power can easily conspire to destroy it.  Bobbie Bean refused to accept the injustices shown to his son, so he fought back by going to the Florida statehouse floor to lobby for accountability, lost lives, and the dramatic passage of what was in 2008 the toughest anti-bullying bill in the nation.

With more and more news on bullying being exposed and how it destroys lives, Bobbie Bean is a true hero for those who can't fight for themselves. He will help you realize how corrupt government really can be.

Books of Excellence with Author Bonnie Kaye

    in Books

Tonight Bonnie Kaye welcomes guest Michael Williamson who has published the book Secret Betrayal. Willaimson is originally from California, but he currently lives in Montana where he ranches between writing. He is working on his next novel Now is Forever: Indochina which is due out next fall. This will be the first in a series of books on the topic.

Tonight we will be discussing Secret Betrayal. Here's a summary:

The desperate act of a young girl, on the cusp of womanhood, to lose herself in the mean streets and cabarets of 1930s Berlin, and years later, the disappearance of a key American general shortly before D-Day in 1944 are links in an ingenious plot to gain the secrets of the Allied invasion.

Through a series of traumatic events Reichsletter Martin Bormann, the man more than any other that truly ran the German government toward the end of World War II, sets in motion a deadly gambit that ricochets across half the world and gains Bormann possession of the Normandy invasion plans. In the double dealing, back stabbing chaos that was the Nazi inner circle, this climactic information is the currency that will buy Bormann the one thing that he has desired above all others: the right to be the next Fuhrer.

So unfolds the dynamic pages of Secret Betrayal. This novel is a testament to the redemptive power of love, the evolutionary power of kundalini yoga and the war within a war waged by Reichsletter Martin Bormann and Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler for the mind of and influence over Adolf Hitler.

Books of Excellence with Author Bonnie Kaye

    in Books

Tonight Bonnie Kaye's guest is B. J. Webster, who is originally from Australia and lived in London for almost twenty years Webster is the author of "Wonder Year," a story about the great fire in London during 1666.

1666 was called “Wonder Year”, despite it being a year of great calamity and disaster in London. The joke was, at least things weren’t worse than they were. Wonder Year is a fast paced historical fiction based around the actual events in 1666 before the Great Fire of London, through the dramatic fire and in the days after the blaze had ended and London wondered at their fate.

Who really started the Great Fire of London? Nobody knows for certain. Was it an accident or a deliberate act? Wonder Fire assumes the latter is the case and delves into the motives of ambition, illicit affairs, unrequited love and political intrigue, none which was a stranger to the court of King Charles II.
Feel what it was like to live in 1666 and better understand the intricacies of politics, power and class divide of the time. Be drawn in by the fascinating web of intrigue and how it plays out to create one of the most devastating events in history.

Bonnie Kaye's Books of Excellence with author Bob Weintraub

    in Books

My guest tonight is author Bob Weintraub, who has been a life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox. He grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts, just eight miles from the famous Fenway Park. Bob played baseball in college at Brandeis University, and following  college, he served two years in the Army where he was stationed in Germany. When his military career ended, he returned to Boston, enrolled at Boston University School of Law, and studied law for three years. After graduation, he went into the law field of labor relations. He practiced for six years in Washington, D.C.and in San Francisco before returning to Boston.

It wasn't until later in his life that Bob tried his hand at fiction writing. His first short story was about Irving, a man who had survived a pogrom in Russia years earlier, and had promised God at the time that he would devote his life to prayer and being a moral and ethical person if he wasn't killed in the attacks. Irving did survive and kept his promise. The problem begins, however, when he is admitted, reluctantly (at the urging of his four children) to a Massachusetts nursing home and feels that it's incumbent upon him to persuade the other residents of the Home to live their lives as he was living his. Irving is loved by most of his fellow residents, but even love can go so far.

His first story was accepted by a distinguished literary magazine in North Carolina called "The Sun," and this was the beginning of Bob's career as a writer.

Tonight we'll hear more about Bob, his writing, his books, his upcoming projects, his great love for the Boston Red Sox, and his great recognition of his work by some very famous people.
