Inside Acting Presents: "The Big A: Scenes from a Vanishing Landscape"

    in Entertainment

In this special Table Read Edition of the Inside Acting Radio show, we present playwright Robert Epstein's stage play The Big A: Scenes from a Vanishing Landscape.

The play is about a family's struggles with aging, illness and the care of their elderly parents.

The aging couple is played by Kirk Lambert as Alan, and Lois Bernstein as Janice.  They are a white couple with two grown black children from Janice's first marriage, played by Mack Leamon as Lou, and Ruben Bell as Jon.  Mary Claire Hess plays Amy, Lou's wife.

Though the play is about a serious subject that so many families have to deal with these days, it has both touching and very funny moments.

There are dance scenes at the beginning and end of the play.  In the first dance scene, before the play begins, the aging Alan and Janice are dancing slowly and with difficulty.

In the last scene, with fast swing music, Alan and Janice are restored to their younger selves, dancing with great ease.  This continues into the curtain call.

In between is the story of them and their family.

There are also fantasy scenes in which Janice and Alan are confronted by distorted versions of their health aides. These scenes really take place in their minds.

...and now sit back and enjoy, "The Big A"

Robert Epstein, Acting Instructor / Film & Theater Director / Playwright-Screenwriter

The Inside Acting Radio Show Halloween Special featuring actor Chad Eric Smith

    in Entertainment

Join your Host from the East Coast, your Sage of the Stage, William Powell, aka The King of DC Media as he welcomes Chad Eric Smith, actor and writer of the vampire short Dark Therapy, and other special guest. Dial 347.884.8997 to speak with the guest or the host. It will be positively frightening!

Read more about Dark Therapy here:

"Erebus is a 251 year old vampire who seeks psychiatric treatment for a phobia that impacts his way of life. It was an exciting and empowering experience to write and bring to life the type of quirky character I’m attracted to as an actor. I named him “Erebus” because it is the name of the primordial deity who personifies darkness in Greek mythology. I liked the idea of his name representing something opposite of his harmless, apprehensive, and constantly mortified demeanor." - Chad Eric Smith

The Value of Puppies, Children, and kisses

    in Lifestyle

Have you thought about why humans own puppies?  Have you thought about why people have children?  What is the purpose of life, anyway?  What is puppy love?  What is friendship love, what is romantic-love?  How do you get the feelings associated with love.  What is love?  Where does love come from?

Do you long for the peace that is associated with a lasting loving relationship?  Do you yearn for more than a dry kiss?  Do you want a big smack on your lips when you get home from work?  Not a kiss from the puppy, but, from a human being who cares about what you do to be of value?  Well, let's talk about love today!
