Join Women Warriors on Wed August 13th at Noon ET as we learn about “How to Break the Cycle of Abuse” with our special guest Marilyn Hawes, Founder of the child protection charity - Enough Abuse UK – breaking the cycle – changing lives. Learn what you can do to help break the cycle of abuse.
As a teacher Marilyn attended many courses on Child Protection and asks why none of them gave information on how to recognize “grooming” in order to protect children. This remains the case today with many courses. The ability to recognize “grooming” is an essential learnable skill. Her three sons were victims of sexual grooming and abuse by their Head teacher, her boss and best friend of 20 years.
Marilyn regularly speaks to the Media, public, organizations, schools, conferences, parents and children across the UK to break the culture of silence and resistance and to educate people with correct, relevant and vital information to prevent child sexual abuse. She is well known for her strong, pragmatic views. Her empathy and friendly approach reaches out encouraging people to address the issues by raising their understanding which makes for a safer future for children and their families.
Marilyn has been involved in many TV programs such as ‘Judges in the Dock’ with Mark Easton from BBC. She has appeared on BBC “ Songs of Praise “ and is regularly involved with BBC News, Radio 5 Live, SKY news, Press and others. She passionately believes victims need not make their childhood abuse a life sentence – with appropriates therapy and support systems they can thrive - not merely survive! Why do women stay?
Welcome to Women Making Sense of Sex (and everything else) at 60! In this episode, join my co-host Iris Bieri and in a lively conversation about the changes that we women face after menopause and as we enter into our 60's. What makes this time unique for us?
Our bodies are changing radically and we are no longer oriented towards having children and being in relationship. We are also facing the loss of our roles as mothers, sexual partners (for some of us) wives, and for some of us we are facing retirement and or the loss of our careers. We are entering into a time when many things that we have hooked our identity on to are changing and we are faced with "now what?" and "who am I?".
Many of us feel alone in this and isolated. That is why we're talking about this! So, join us and other women in this candid open conversation about what goes on beneath the surface and feel connected to the rhythme of your natural blueprint. Nothing is wrong with you! It is just time to step fully into your changes and embrace your authenticity.
This show is also great for you younger women wondering what you have to look forward to as you move through into maturity!
Coming up on Women Warriors (Wed, Nov 13 at Noon ET), our special guest, Marilyn Hawes, will be discussing the topic of “Enough Abuse: Understanding Child Sexual Abuse (CSE) and How to Protect Our Children.” Whether you have children or not, this is a show you won’t want to miss.
Marilyn Hawes is the Founder of Enough Abuse. Enough Abuse provides the education in creating a better understanding and recognition of grooming to prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation. Marilyn Hawes set up the ‘Enough Abuse’ campaign to protect children and their families from the damage of sexual abuse through the education and understanding of grooming in 2003. Enough Abuse UK is a charity with a trading subsidiary EA Child Protection Ltd.
Marilyn is a trained Music teacher with a unique experience of abuse as her children were victims of “Grooming” and sexual abuse by their Head Teacher. That same Head Teacher masqueraded under the guise of a reliable colleague and trusted personal family friend.
Marilyn passionately advocates the timely delivery of relevant information and education about ‘Grooming’ which is inherent in the abuse ‘culture’. By raising people’s awareness she encourages them to address these issues to build a safer future for children and their families.
Enough Abuse has developed courses for children, parents, teachers and all those who have a duty of care over children all designed to increase a child’s resilience when approached by an abuser. We can also provide professional counseling for those in need. To find out more, please visit the Enough Abuse website at http://www.enoughabuseuk.com/.
Really, if 7th Heaven's Rev. Eric Camden can be a child molester, is nothing sacred? Well, no. Not when it comes to the abuse of children.
In light of the recent allegations and investigations into actor Stephen Collins (TV's Rev. Camden) for molesting children, it's time to take another look at just who molesters are, how they operate, hot to recognize them, and how to help kids be safe. We also need to reexamine what we can do about this terrible problem. Did you know a 2004 U.S. Department of Education report said nearly 10 % of students have sexual contact with school employees before they graduate? That report also stated that abuse happens when no one is paying attention to the issue.
So let's pay attention.
Storm is a writer and poet. She is a survivor and advocate for child abuse victims and has turned that into a personal campaign to speak out against the unspeakable. She wants to help children get out of abusive situations by personally speaking about what she's been through.
Daphne Young, Vice President of Communications and PreventionEducation for Childhelp can halp us figure it all out. Childhelp is America's longest running and largets national nonprofit meeting the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of abused and neglected children. The organization focuses on advocacy, prevention, treatment, and community outreach. She has developed a youth safety curriculum for young athletes with Olympic Consultants, the Foundation for Glogal Sports Development called Childhelp: Speak Up, Be Safe for Athletes.
Storm and Daphne will give us answers, explain what child molestation really is, and offer strategies and resources for all of us.

Talking about Domestic Violence and all of it's variables. Did you know that some women enjoy abuse, which sounds crazy but it is a reality? Some men are provoked to anger and rage by the women in their lives simply because she craves the abuse...let's discuss why that is and who is at fault?

The drama never seems to end for the NFL. After years of getting a slap on the hand for violence against women, the athletes are going to face a new tough policy in the future. And the NFL hired former Manhattan prosecutor Lisa Friel as an advisor for that revamp in policy. Problem is, she is already getting wishy washy about how the policy has to look out for the athletes. So is all the hype from the NFL just that - hype?
Join us with MIchael O'keeffe, award winning sports reporter for the NY Daily News as we discuss his take on abuse in sports.

Wearing a Blue Ribbon is the symbol of Child Abuse Awareness! Millions of abuse victims (men and women) hide the story of their experience well into adulthood. A huge number continue to suffer from pain, anger, fear, shame and embarrassment for decades. Most will agree their traumas have resulted in an inability to trust, make good decisions and have healthy relationships. But giving up the secret is often how recovery begins, one survivor talking to another. Join Bill Murray and his co-hosts, panelists and guests, many of them abuse survivors, others supporters and friends, for an informed discussion of the many important issues that surround child abuse. Anonymous calls and chat room participation are encouraged. ~~ Please see our web site at: www.NAASCA.org
Sometimes the memories are too much to hold inside. Sometimes the pain just gets too big. Medicating our pain as survivors of child sexual abuse is one way to survive.
But as long as we are addicted, we will never thrive. Addiction kills relationships, careers, healing and spiritual growth. Addiction takes the life out of us and returns the destruction of all we hold dear in exchange for killing the pain.
David Pittman, director of Together We Heal, knows both the pain of abuse AND the pain of addiction. And now he knows the joy of helping others get free from both. Join David and Misa as they bring hope for healing from addiction and child abuse.
