    Hicks Live

    in Military

Join us this week as we welcome country rock music singer songwriter, Hicks. Hailing from Stockholm, SE., Miqael Persson aka Hicks is the first Swedish country artist to land his first two singles in the New Music Weekly Top 10, (“Hayride,” “Mama’s Kitchen”) and the first to reach the Music Row Top 80. With multiple Gold and Platinum records to his credit, his rock-edged songs have been recorded by artists like Jimi Jamison (Survivor), Giant (Dann Huff), Bobby Kimball (Toto), Little River Band, and many other Grammy-winning artists. In addition to his songwriting credits, Hicks is an Independent Country Music Association award winner, and the British Country Music Association’s 2013 European Country Act of the Year. His latest, “I Belong To You” was co-written by Hicks with Erik Martensson, and hit songwriter, Jorgen Elofsson, writer of two smash hits for Kelly Clarkson (“A Moment Like This,” “Stronger.”) With its anthemic, soaring vocal hook, Mumford and Sons-like rhythm section, and enough fiddles to inspire a river-side hoe-down, “I Belong To You” is a breath of much-needed fresh air for summer playlists. We will talk to Hicks about his upcoming schedule, get a behind the scenes look at his music, feature his latest songs, and ask him to share his message for the troops. Please be sure to visit Hicks at http://hickscountry.com/ and spread the word. Fans are welcome to call in and speak live with Hicks during the show (718) 766-4193. If you would like to participate in the live chat during the show, you must sign up on the show site first and then log in during the show. And as always we will give shout outs to our deployed military listeners. Be sure to join us, Sunday 8/23/2015 at 4 PM EDT! Our message to the troops: WE do what we do, because YOU do what you do.

"Looking at Benjamin Franklin & Abraham Maslow" #562

    in Spirituality

The adding of virtuous habits and the elimination of, well, not so good habits, has been, is now and will continue to be a hot topic for many people.  The adoption of virutes moves us toward eliminating "The Integrity Ga" that exists for most of us.

Moving through the literature on this topic yields some very interesting strategies given by some very credible authors.  I have no intention of even attempting to discreit the two authors I will discuss namely, Benamin Franklin and Abraham Maslow for I met (the writings of) these two men at two different times of need.  Each man took me to a higher place for which I was very grateful.  Their writings and strategies, however, left me with questions and a lack of fultillment; I knew there was something better; something more.

My invitation to you is to join me in this message; it's my journey and the journey of many others.  Perhaps this will save you some time in your path to a more contented, fulfilled life.  The journey isn't supposed to be hard; in fact, it's a joyous one.  Let's look at Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Maslow to get some direction.

"I create to give people a unique experience through the channels of my talents. I was inspired when i was very young creating a graphic novel called "Merry Days" based on the imagined adventures of my pet frog, Ivinn and his best friend Indy. I was always drawing and people began to take notice of my work. They would tell me how much they enjoyed seeing my work. I would draw the things i loved such as family members who had passed away because I missed them. I began sharing this passion with others by drawing their family members, pets, and heirlooms. I am academically trained with disciplines in painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics, mixed media, music, literature, and film."  Randy Bernard
