Join Dave, The Caregiver's Caregiver, as he interviews Ellen Nielsen, a marketing and communications consultant based in Alberta, Canada. She was also a caregiver to two parents with dementia (at the same time). Her parents moved in to care together and were fortunate to share a room until her mother's passing in 2003.
Ellen's caregiving duties included a lot of things she would rather have not done, including theft of a car, and yet she considers herself better and stronger for having done them. Her father passed in 2013, now making Ellen an ex-caregiver, a role which she says is just as challenging to embrace as the original task of becoming a caregiver.
You can find Ellen on facebook at facebook.com/caregiverconnexion - connection spelled with an x in the middle (because everything has to be just a little more complicated for caregivers - thanks Ellen).

Alzheimer's Speaks Radio raises the voice of all who have an interest in dementia and providing great care to those in need. The show launched in 2010, because it's founder Lori La Bey, felt a strong need to help individuals, organizations and communities connect to the vast resources available around the world. During her personal 30 year journey with her own mother, she saw so many people struggling with this disease. Alzheimer's Speaks provides a variety of platforms to nurture the soul, educate the public and build community. Check out Alzheimer's Speaks website.
Our guest today will be Mike Good the founder of Together in This an online community helping family members caring for someone with Alzheimer’s. Join us today to hear Mike's interesting journey into the world of dementia and what got him here; along with why he does what he does and how it can help you or someone you know.
Host Tiffany Williams-Jallow and co-founder of Rejoice Marriage Ministries, Charlyne Steinkamp, discuss the importance of marriage restoration after separation or divorce and why remarriages to non-convenant spouses should be entered into with caution. Plus, hear Charlyne's testimony of how her marriage was miraculously restored after two long years of fasting and praying for her prodigal spouse, Bob, to return home and how you too can move towards reconciliation with your estranged or ex spouse even if it seems impossible.

In fact, I personally got the chance to meet her and interview her the other week at the Wisconsin Assisted Living Association 1/2 intensive preconference on building Dementia Friendly Communities and Businesses.

Come join host Dave Etter by calling (516) 453-9167 - I'll have the show on loudspeakers! It'll be great! The show will mirror alot of the event content, so, we will talk about surviving deployment souse issues like keeping the long distance romance alive, planning and keeping a deployment budget, what kind of friends to make/keep/avoid, how to stay married (no cheating), how to learn from the deployment and prepare for the next - or plan for seperation from the military. All things every inquiring spouse should know! BTW, this show will be toned down language-wise to support the onsite live nature of the event, ok, guys? Keep it "G" rated!
MMSRS is a weekly 2-hour web-based radio show, hosted by Army spouse Dave Etter, focusing on the needs of men married to serving military members, both men and women. Male Military Spouses are a small niche of military spouses, comprising of only 7%-8% of all military spouses. We feel left out, usually, at support functions - especially those designed with the spouses being identified as "wives"! We get cajoled at playgrounds where our kids play, from the mommies there who think we don't belong. We are proud SAHDs, who gave up our careers to follow our spouses as they dedicate thier lives to defend our country! Here, on this show, we come together and share beer recipes, diaper changing techniques, financial discoveries - manly things, for men! Airs Fridays at Noon CT, rated R for the cussing that can occur, and available for download (podcast) immediately following each show.
Join host Dave Etter and guest Rob Aeschbach, founder and owner of The Military Financial Planner LLC, as we discuss and take call concerning filing taxes this year.
