On November 19, my guest will be Alan Winnikoff. Alan is co-principal of Sayles & Winnikoff Communications, the boutique public relations firm he co-founded in 2003, along with his partner, Carina Sayles. Alan shares in the strategic direction and overall management of the company. The agency’s focus is primarily, though not exclusively, on companies, product and content for the children’s and family market. Sayles & Winnikoff also works with a wide range of arts, media and entertainment companies, as well as non-profits and start-ups.
Alan is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of the company and the account team. With a recognized expertise in branding and messaging, he sets the agenda for, and manages, the agency’s client relationships.
Alan was one of the founding executives of Sony Wonder, the family entertainment division of Sony Music. He helped launch the label in 1993 and directed all PR efforts there for seven years, working with such high profile brands as Sesame Street and Nickelodeon Home Video. He left Sony Wonder in 2000 to join the children’s Internet company MaMaMedia. He has also held executive PR and marketing positions at the cable news channel MSNBC and at IDG Books, the publishers of the For Dummies series and Frommer's Travel Guides, among other brands.
Alan began his career in Los Angeles with The Lippin Group Public Relations. He moved to New York and ran the firm’s New York office, then joined Worldvision Enterprises, a worldwide television syndication company, owned by Aaron Spelling Productions. As Vice President, Communications, he was involved with the Hanna Barbera library, as well as with shows such as Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place and Twin Peaks.

Jeff Gendelman, writer and producer, wrote and produced The Surface, an 18-year journey of perseverance from idea to production. The film stars Sean Astin, Chris Mulkey and Mimi Rogers and was directed by Gil Cates Jr. Jeff also produced and directed the award-winning short film, In Passing. He produced the Los Angeles world premiere of the play, The Letter Writer, and then developed it to be made into a film. He produced and directed two science documentaries, and a pilot for a syndicated TV series. As an actor, Jeff co-starred with Christopher Lambert in the feature film, Splitsville. He had a supporting role opposite Robert Forster and Donnie Wahlberg in the feature film, Diamond Men. His TV work includes guest-starring roles on NBC’s Law and Order and he was featured on Beverly Hills 90210. Jeff was also a series regular on the television dramas One Life to Live, Guiding Light and Loving (nominated for Outstanding Actor in a daytime TV series). He studied in film classes at the American Film Institute (Los Angeles), New YorkUniversity, USC, and at the BBC (London). Jeff has also been involved with the theater since age 10. After graduating from the University of Minnesota he went to train in the American Conservatory Theater Advanced Actor Program in San Francisco. He has acted and directed at theaters throughout the United States and Japan, including Old Globe Shakespeare Company (San Diego), Milwaukee Repertory, Mark Taper Forum (Los Angeles), and Riverside Shakespeare Company (New York City). Rick Hearst is an actor, known for General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light, The Young and the Restless, and the film Brain Damage.
Hearst also had a recurring guest-star role on Beverly Hills, 90210, and has guest-starred on other TV series such as Jenny and Pacific Blue. In 2000, he starred as "Rocky" in the theater production of Aven'U Boys with Danica McKellar.
Hearst has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award seven times, winning for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" in 2004 and 2007 for his General Hospital role, after previously winning "Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series" for Guiding Light in 1991. He has also been nominated for four Soap Opera Digest Awards, winning "Outstanding Villain" for The Young and the Restless in 2001.
In 2005 Hearst filmed the lead role in Carpool Guy, directed by Corbin Bernsen.
As of 2012, Hearst holds the distinction of being the only living actor to have appeared on all four remaining soap operas.
