Politics Done Right - Bernie Sanders using Obama 2008 playbook to beat Hillary?

    in Politics

Afew nights ago Bernie Sanders had house parties throughout the country. Over 100,000 people signed up. I went to one in the role of a blogger and was blown away by the group of people attending. Bernie Sanders has been accused of having supporters that do not reflect the demographics of America. It seems like the Black Lives Matter protest at Netroots Nation 2015 has completely changed the character of his campaign operation.

This particular Bernie Sanders house party did not only reflect America, it reflected Houston, it reflected Texas. Moreover the stream beamed into homes throughout the country was also very diverse. Bernie Sanders has not changed his message. He enhanced it. He made it more reflective. He made it more inclusive.

Currently the polls still show Hillary Clinton with a substantial lead. It also shows Bernie Sanders constantly chipping away. Will there be a real populist vs status quo Democratic Primary after all?

  • The View Up Here talks Canada's Digital Future with OpenMedia.ca

    in Politics

October 19, 2015. General election day in Canada. Perhaps the last chance to prevent the irreversible changes to the country that Harper and his machine want to execute. The number of issues caused by CPC malfeasance to this point is never ending. They have had a decade to pervert this once respected nation into insignificance. Internationally and domestically.

Since 2008, OpenMedia.ca has been a leading voice in keeping Canadians aware, informed and able to counteract the measures taken against digital rights. The Declaration of Internet Freedom has five fundamental principles. Expression. Access. Openness. Innovation. Privacy.

Shaped by more than 250,000 people and launched last week, "Canada's Digital Future" is a crowd-sourced election platform packed with ideas from everyday citizens. This initiative of digital rights is urging people to consider Canada's digital future when casting their vote this election. While OpenMedia won’t be endorsing any political party, it does plan to meet the main parties and report back as to which are most committed to implementing its platform. Thousands of people have already pledged to vote for the future of the Internet in the upcoming election.

“Whether it’s telecom price-gouging, reckless spying legislation, or abusive copyright notices, failed digital policies are hurting Canadians,” said OpenMedia’s communications manager David Christopher. “Young people in particular are speaking up for a better way forward, because Canada can’t afford to keep falling behind our international counterparts. That’s why this election will be the most important Canadian Internet users have ever faced.” David joins us to tell us about how your digital rights are under attack. And what OpenMedia.ca is doing on our behalf.

    Join us. Know your enemies.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1173

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Angela Williams from Marietta, Georgia, abuse survivor, author and returning NAASCA family member. Ms Williams is Founder & CEO of VOICE Today, launched in 2008, where the goal is to increase global awareness about childhood sexual abuse, and promoting its prevention, healing programs and resources. "As a survivor of incest, suffering in silence for 14 years at the brutal hands of my stepfather," she says, "my passion has become helping others learn to break the silence barrier of child sexual abuse and to make a difference in the lives of children in the next generation." A faith based organization, the values of the Voice Today Movement include the belief that prayer is the power source against the demonic forces driving child sexual abuse. They seek to break the silence of child sexual abuse by educating adults, speak out unashamedly and provide healing support for survivors, and that will become a platform for social change. Angela shares her own journey as a survivor in her book, "From Sorrows To Sapphires" and is co-author of "Pathway to Healing." Other books include "True Intimacy" and "Tough Talk To Tender Hearts." Angela is a tireless advocate. Through VOICE, Angela works to change society’s attitudes and actions that surround child sexual abuse, and seeks to shift the responsibility for preventing Child Sexual Abuse from the child to the adult. She hopes to empower survivors to find their voice and start the healing process.
