Patterned after the typical format of an open meeting in a 12-step group, the show will be a speaker meeting. Guests will be from AA, NA or AlAnon and will share their perspective on what they were like, what happened and what they are like now.
DuEwa Frazier, a writer, author, educator, and award-nominated poet was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. The author of the newly released young adult novel, Deanne in the Middle (2014), DuEwa is also the author of Goddess Under the Bridge: Poems(2013), Ten Marbles and a Bag to Put Them In: Poems for Children (2010), Stardust Tracks on a Road (2005), and Shedding Light From My Journeys (2002). She is the editor/publisher of the NAACP Image Award nominated (in Outstanding Literary Work, Poetry) anthology, Check the Rhyme: An Anthology of Female Poets and Emcees (July 2006), featuring the work of 50 internationally and nationally known women poets.
Check the Rhyme also received nominations from Writers Digest Publishing Award and African American Literary Award Show. She founded Lit Noire Publishing in 2002 and has produced numerous literary and performance events featuring poets, authors, and musicians across New York City,Baltimore, Atlanta, Berkeley, and Philadelphia.
DuEwa has been called a “gifted” poet. Her poetry has been published in Essence Magazine, Reverie Journal, Kweli Journal, Tidal Basin Review, Poetry In Performance, Drumvoices Revue, Black Arts Quarterly, X Magazine and other publications. In 2005 she featured in the documentary film “Rhyme and Reason.”
Writer, poet, and educator DuEwa Frazier draws from her life as a writer, work with youth as an educator and perspective as a woman who grew up learning from people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Kimberly Ward is the creative force behind the design firm Kimberly and Cameron Interiors. Kimberly has been featured on HGTV and in numerous national publications including Uptown Magazine andHouse Beautiful. Since opening her doors in 2002, she has decorated over 60,000 square feet of residential and small commercial spaces. She is the creator of the award-winning design blog Pinkeggshell which she uses to share design trends and inspirations with readers all over the world. In 2011 Kimberly launched a movement to celebrate other African- American Interior Designers.

R. Wayne Hicks is the Executive Director for the BDPA Education & Technology Foundation, the non-profit fundraising arm for a national IT association. Wayne served as BETF executive director when first created in 1992-1993. He returned to that leadership position again in 2006.
Wayne has been active leader in BDPA since he joined in 1988. He served in virtually every leadership position on both the local and national level. He earned the ‘BDPA Presidents Award’ in 1989, 1992 and 2001. Wayne took over the BDPA Cincinnati chapter in 1999. His chapter won ‘Comeback Chapter of the Year’ and ‘Most Improved Chapter’ awards the following year. BDPA Cincinnati chapter subsequently earned recognition for national excellence in community service, membership and professional service. BDPA Cincinnati became a national powerhouse under his leadership - winning ‘Chapter of the Year’ or ‘Chapter of the Year Runner-Up’ honors in eight of the past 9 years.
Wayne served as national BDPA president-elect (2002-2003) and national BDPA president (2004-2005). National BDPA experienced record growth in terms of membership and corporate sponsorship during those years.
Wayne accepted the challenge of growing the impact of BETF as their executive director in 2006. Under his guidance, the Foundation increased the number and amount of scholarships, donations and chapter grants in each of the past three years. Currently, he is working with a dynamic Board of Directors to implement a $5 million BETF Endowment Fund.
Wayne has been a frequent workshop presenter at regional & national training seminars discussing topics such as, "Vanishing Black Male," "Dealing with Office Politics," "Bridging the Digital Divide," and "Strategies for Success."
