Tonight's special guest is Nana Brazil from São Paulo, Brazil, a child abuse survivor and NAASCA family member who's been a regular in our SCAN radio talk show's chat room for several months. Now 52 years old, Nana is beginning her healing process using the ASCAA 12 Step program, and is joining us as a special guest tonight for the first time! Her father, an alpha male, was born in Italy and came to Brazil after the World War II. When 5 years old Nana's family re-located for 3 years to the USA, living in Wisconsin. There she suffered bullying in school. "Back in Brazil the first memory that I have is my mom entering my bedroom and catching my dad abusing me. My childhood broke apart." She and her brother witnessed terrible, violent fights. Her parents divorced when Nana was 16. "My mother never talked to me about what she saw. Actually any time that I tried to bring her any problem, the answer was that it was too much for her to handle. My father just wasn't there, ever. The law of the house was secrecy." Her childhood experiences opened the door for many adult problems, including "bad relationships, a 23 year abusive marriage, giving up of great opportunities, and a hard time to manage my financial situation, my business." Four years ago she was able to get out of her marriage with the help of Al-anon. "I went back to my mothers house, the same place of all the traumatic experiences. And that made all the memories come back. But with the memories came help and many doors of healing. Going back to Christianity was one of the doors. The other was finding the SCAN group." Nana concludes, "I want to build a good, joyful, productive life. And to help others to understand that there is hope and to find a path of recovery."

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really, but she has written over twenty novels and novellas, including the very popular Redwood Pack, and Montgomery Ink series. Join me on Thursday, January 29th at 6pm EST, as I chat with Carrie Ann about her latest novel, Wicked Wolf: A Redwood Pack Novella (1001 Dark Nights).
The war between the Redwood Pack and the Centrals is one of wolf legend. Gina Eaton lost both of her parents when a member of their Pack betrayed them. Adopted by the Alpha of the Pack as a child, Gina grew up within the royal family to become an enforcer and protector of her den. She's always known fate can be a tricky and deceitful entity, but when she finds the one man that could be her mate, she might throw caution to the wind and follow the path set out for her, rather than forging one of her own.
Quinn Weston's mate walked out on him five years ago, severing their bond in the most brutal fashion. She not only left him a shattered shadow of himself, but their newborn son as well. Now, as the lieutenant of the Talon Pack's Alpha, he puts his whole being into two things: the safety of his Pack and his son.
When the two Alphas put Gina and Quinn together to find a way to ensure their treaties remain strong, fate has a plan of its own. Neither knows what will come of the Pack's alliance, let alone one between the two of them. The past paved their paths in blood and heartache, but it will take the strength of a promise and iron will to find their future.

Herb Caen, San Francisco's foremost newspaper columnist, rumored it. Roger Lapham, San Francisco's "infrequently beloved" businessman mayor, confirmed it. Friedel Klussmann, the President of the San Francisco Federation of the Arts, stopped it.
The issue was a simple one; should San Francisco in 1947 keep the city-owned Powell Street cable cars running? In this environment Glen Hurlburt, a blind pianist, penned his "Cable Car Concerto." A concert orchestra played the "Cable Car Concerto." Hurlburt's "Concerto" cleverly takes us on round trip ride on the Powell-Mason cable from Market Street to the Fisherman's Wharf and back. Enjoy!
This is a rebroadcast from 5/23/14.
