    How To Legalize Backyard Beekeeping

    in Environment

Regardless of the fact that there is a tremendous decline in the honeybee population, there are still many areas where backyard beekeeping has been banned. The reason for the ban in many cases is mostly due to lack of knowledge about bees as well as fear of lawsuits. The plight to legalize beekeeping in a community is not something many beekeepers want to undertake. The consequences beekeepers that challenge these laws face range from risk of being fined to confiscation of their bees, which can also be a big financial loss. There are some areas that may even impose incarceration. Every area is different. Marygael Meister is a beekeeper that sought to do this for the city of Denver. It was a very trying process but one she was determined to see changed. Her efforts led her to establish and organize DenverBee.org. Ms. Meister successfully changed the citys ordinance but also found that there is a great deal of responsibility that comes with such a privilege. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to Marygael Meister, founder and President of DenverBee.org to learn about her relentless efforts to get the laws changed, stay tuned! You don't need to be an expert either! Anyone can do it! You just need to know what to do.

In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, Phyllis Stiles, the Director of Bee City USA, talks to host, June Stoyer, about what you need to know in order to become a Bee City certified municipality. To learn more, stay tuned!

Goddess Full Moon Meditation with Laura Bee from the College of the Melissae

    in Spirituality

Goddess Alive Radio is BUZZING with delight to welcome Laura Bee, Sacred Beekeeper and Founder of the College of the Melissae for an interview and a very special Five-Senses Meditation followed by a Blessing of the Melissae for the Full Moon in Libra!  We will be delving into the Sacred Archetype of the Honeybee and myths of beekeeping.

Join us on Saturday, April 4 at 8pm eastern for the interview and guided meditation!

A beekeeper, educator and activist, Laura Bee brings a unique perspective to the study of the honeybee. As Founding Director of the College of the Melissae, Laura works collaboratively in the emerging/awakening of the Sacred Beekeeping: Six-Fold Path.

As a beekeeper of many years she became aware of the deep crisis affecting our pollinators including the honeybee and decided to do something about it.  As Einstein said “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them” so Laura developed and founded the College of the Melissae; Center for Sacred Beekeeping.

Goddess Alive Radio is the weekly Blogtalk Radio show for the MotherHouse of the Goddess and is hosted by Kimberly F. Moore, Founder and Priestess of the MotherHouse of the Goddess. We focus on topics about Women’s Empowerment, Alternative Medicine, and Living Mythology – how the Goddess is moving through our lives today. Priestesses, Practitioners, Healers, and Shamans will be joining us to discuss their practices and experiences with the Goddess. Every month, we hold an online meditation to connect with Goddess energy just prior to the Full Moon and New Moon in our Goddess Moon Meditations.  See the Goddess Alive Radio Show page for archives and the upcoming schedule.
