Tweaking Vibrations

Tweaking Vibrations

Dear Lori, Shine the light that you have for others, it is so necessary in a century where wisdom and age are not honored anymore. As you shine your light, let it grace those who for their own reason may be dealing with a loved one's passing in a challenging way. Shine the light of grace, peace, mercy and compassion, those energies will nurture those in transition, on a variety of levels. Peace and love to you, Valerie aka Tweaking-Vibrations.

Thanks for the great message Lori! You're fantastic too and I for one am so glad our soul's "reconnected" in this lifetime. Hmmm, looks like the Universe really is forgiving after all, or at the very least, New Jersey is....ahhhh memories!

Hello, I would love to see what your thoughts are on the show I did on 1/9 for Opening Perspectives. I think based on what you have written in your profile, you would be energized by this show. I am an expert in the Law of Attraction but don't know much about pre-planned birth charts. I wish I could help. There is much more in the universe than the law of attraction. We do attract out lives to us but we are also apart of a bigger universe where we have taken on powerful missions that brings to us what we need to accomplish our own purposes. It is a very interesting conversation to invite others to. Blessings! Zen

The RIGHT to eat YOGURT on your deathbed

A day in OCT that was very frustrating to me working as a volunteer.

I want to share an experience I had last month at the Care Center where I volunteer.

I had done some rounds, fed pts, put away linens, etc and stopped back in on an elderly man whom I had ealier seen but told I would come back . When I got there, a middle-aged man was in the room. I said hello to him and he introduced himself to me as " THE PRIMARY CAREGIVER", and oh, by the way, the son.. I thought this a little strange, and went to see the patient. He had an open container of yogurt by his bedside. Earlier, I had fed this man his  breakfast and knew what he had eaten and what he had not. This was left from breakfast. I also knew he did not eat the oatmeal part of his breakfast. AS I sat down with him, I asked him if he wanted to eat his yogurt now and he said  "yes!". When I started to give it to him, his son,( AKA the primary care giver), started to complain, saying his father did not need to be eating so much, that he just had breakfast, etc etc. I told him I was the one who gave him breakfast...as HE was not present then and that I was the one who brought it  back to the kitchen untouched !..
Anyway, I gave the elderly man his yogurt and he asked for more. I went and looked into the refridge on that wing of the buidling and there was yogurt with his name on it. I let him pick a flavor, opened it, and proceeded to feed it to him. He was like a hungry little bird..opening his mouth in glee at each spoonful. The son, however, took his complaining self out to the hallway to tell a nurse that I was " overfeeding" his father and not listening to him..
Upon hearing this, I marched out to the hallway, ready to confront this idiot. His father had less than a week to live, and now was in the care of Hospice, thus, son would no longer be his PRIMARY CARE GIVER, the doctor and nurses in charge were. As I left the room, the old man was yelling out " HEY, WHERE ARE YOU GOING WITH MY YOGURT?"  looking sad and confused. I said " I will be right back!"............

I go in the hallway, ready to fight for the right to consume yogurt upon your deathbed, and I see that this man has left the building. I confront the nurse standing there and said "WHAT WAS THAT?"  she shook her head and said something to the effect that some people want to control things. I told her how the pt had not eaten much and was there any harm in having the yogurt?

She said that it would be best if I just stayed out of that room to make " them" happy..( His son?)
I angrily threw the yogurt in the trash and left the building.  I knew better than to stay any longer as angry as I was..Outside, I saw THE PRIMARY CARE GIVER driving off...

The next week when I returned, this patient was gone, gone as in deceased. His yogurt with his name on it is still in the refridgerator. I guess next week if it is still there I will throw it away.
I just do not understand some idiots. What was this man's son thinking? Over- feeding a 90lb man on his death bed? If it was unsafe for him to consume that, it would not have been served by Hopsice with his breakfast.! Perhaps this son wanted his father to hurry-up-and die!

Anyway,  I came home a little discouraged with humanity in general. I went on my Blogtalk Page, which I had not been to in quite some time, and there was a lovely message from Denis Barnes  on there.. Very good timing , I must say,..

So I learn, every day will not be a "uplifting" one, but I will continue to go back and try to make a difference where I can. Denis, know your  message left as a comment on my page was very timely and uplifting to me in a time of frustration!

    Love, Lori

Funeral service on 11/11/09,( one year later..)

It is amazing to me that it has been over one year since my first post about my work in Hospice care. This past year has been more blessed than I ever believed would be possible. This wonderful organization has provided me opportunity to give of myself to spirit, to be used to bring whatever is needed to whomever needs it at the time. Each week, as I enter the Care Center, I ask that my time there be used and divinely guided for the purpose of helping either the people who are in the active process of leaving this earth, or to give reassurance , comfort, or a cup of coffee to family and friends of the patient.
When people ask me why I joined this group, all I can say is," I knew I had to." No one close to me was in Hospice Care, creating a need to " pay it back". I just knew it was something I had to do. The very idea that there is a window of time every week  for me to go in and be present and to help in any way, big or small, is such a blessing. This is not depressing work. It is a joyful one. I come home from my shift feeling so much love it is indescribable.  I have had the opportunity to be with a family while their loved one crossed  over, and had the honor of being present to comfort and hold a grieving family member.  Each week, it fills my heart with love to be able to feed those patients who can no longer lift a spoon, and see the gratitude in their eyes. I have been with pts who are looking beyond me into the room at people that I can not see, and watch the recognition in their eyes, as no doubt , they are "seeing" a loved one who is present that my eyes do not see, but my heart does sense.
I also have people that are home and their families need someone to come stay with the sick person so they can go do errands, appts, or just need a break. One of these people was a 95 year old woman that I started to visit a year ago. This woman had total and complete use of her mind, recalling to me not only her life story, but facts about things that I myself would have trouble remembering,. like the name of the company that re-surfaced her pool five years ago, and what materials they used!
Over the summer, I took a vacation, and then some time off for home remodeling/ construction that took up 6 weeks of my time. When I finally was able to visit this incredible woman, she was much declined.. in body, but not spirit. She could no longer stand, but instead of staying in bed, she would spend her time in her favorite recliner, sleeping most of the time. When I went to see her last month, her daughter told me she would most likely sleep while I was there. I settled into a chair in the room with her with a book. As soon as the door closed behind her daughter, she awoke./ This woman had only one functioning eye at this time, as a tumor had eroded the other one and had just about covered the entire one side of her face. She turned her head to see who was there. I went over to her and grabbed her hand and told her that her daughter would be home soon and that I would be there with her for a little while.  She did not sleep for a moment. Instead,, we held hands while she gazed at me with intelligence and love and squeezed my hand. She managed to say " water" in a soft voice, which she drank from a glass with a straw, choked some on me, tried again, and then kept it down..
As I sat with her, I knew it was probably my last time with her. The house was silent the way she liked it, no TV blaring.. just the ticking of the clock and the beat of our hearts to accompany us..
When her daughter returned in two hours, I told her that her mother was in pain, as I noticed the way she was trying unsuccessfully to find a comfortable position in her chair. Her daughter told me that she wasn't due for more pain med yet, and I said that perhaps she should consult the doctor as at this point, usually the pt is given anything they need to be comfortable. She checked the notes that the nurse had left previously and sure enough, they had upped the dose, and she gave her mom more pain medication.  I was glad that I was there that day to keep my old friend company, as well as to bring to awareness the need she had of more pain relief that day.
When it was time to leave, I held her hand and told her i was leaving, and she mustered up all the strength she had to clearly say " Thank you" two times before I left. Her daughter was amazed as she said her mother had not been lucid or speaking much any more.  I left there knowing it would be the last time I saw her.
Last week, however, I was asked if I could come on Thursday morning for a short time. I agreed. That day, I woke in the early hours of the morning with the worst headache I had in years. I could not lift my head or bear any form of light. I called the daughter and apologized profusely,, as I had never had to cancel any visit before... She assured me it was fine, and I went back to bed for the day until my headache subsided after more sleep.
The very next day, last Friday, she passed away that night.. I think perhaps my headache occurred because she wanted her last day here to be with her daughter for each hour and minute she had left.
When the daughter called me and told me of her mother's passing away, she asked me if I would attend the service and say a few words about her mother, as many of her family and friends lived out of state and had not spent much time with her the past year. I was quite nervous about speaking before a group of strangers, but I knew I could do it..
So yesterday, on 11/11/09, I attended the services for my pt, who was the most amazingly  strong and independent person I have ever met. Her daughter is the most loving, kind and compassionate person, who devoted her very life to her mother's care for the past couple of years. She gave up her job, her home, everything, to take care of her mother day in and day out. I did not rehearse or write any notes before saying anything at the funeral home. I just asked and called upon God, Spirit, the Angels, and anyone who would hear me, to guide me to say words that would uplift those in attendance. For about five minutes before it was time for me to speak, i could feel the top of my head tingling. I smiled inside, knowing this was spirit, energizing me and lifting me up to say things that would touch the hearts of everyone present. My words came effortlessly, and on the way home, I could not stop smiling, knowing that this wonderful woman was now at peace and whole again, at home with her loved ones and God..  and that she was there watching over us that day, , and that she was indeed, very pleased.
When I signed up for this work, I did not know the things I would experience, but it has been a marvelous adventure. Some people I see only once or twice at the end-of-life care center I go to. Others I get to know more intimately through home visits..
This has been the most blessed and prosperous year I have had in a very long time. Situations I never thought could occur have come to me, bringing blessings and what others would call " good luck" all year. I wanted to share my story this day, to let others know that to give of yourself in some way in service to others is one of the best things you can do for your soul. You touch lives, and spirit touches yours. I feel as though I have an " army of souls" looking out for me, and each day I live in gratitude of the opportunities that have been given to me to make a difference in someone's life... even if it is just to get someone a cup of coffee when no one else is around. If you are looking to find meaning in your life, a good way to do this is to ask yourself what you can do to help others. There is no greater blessing than to be of service to spirit.

    Hospice Care---MY FIRST DAY

As all of my friends know, i signed up and trained for Hospice, to help those who are terminal and their families. Today, Oct 30th, was my first day with real people. I have just got home, and i need to put down what it was like. I have to admit, i did come home emotional, stunned, but not in a bad way. My feelings are running high because now i know what it is like to be appreciated and loved by total strangers. This opportunity has opened up before me such beautiful scenes of love, love between people who are soon to pass on, and their families, and the chance to be a part of that is so hard to put into words right now. For now, let me say, it was the the most awesome day i have ever had. I will update this blog as i get my thoughts better organized and my emotions in check. This really is beautiful work, one I look forward to contributing to. Today was working in a Care Center with many patients. I know some will not be there when i return next week. Thank you, God, for letting me be a part of these people;s lives. Thank you, my blog talk friends, for telling me I would be able to do this, i  do so love you all.

Law of Attraction or Pre-Birth planning?

Law of Attraction vs. Pre-Planned Birth charts

You know what i would really like to hear discussed some day?
I would love to hear about what ppl think of the Law of Attraction vs. Pre-planned birth charts.
I believe the fact that we contract our lives before incarnating, and accidents are never accidents, and we are born to parents we pick , as well as any major incidents that occur, some of them seemingly negative.. To learn various life lessons.
Then you have the teachers of Law of Attraction saying EVERYTHING we experience is a result of our thinking. Now this seems contraditory to me. I do believe that to an extent, we create our reality with positve thoughts and so on.. However, I totally disagree that those who are victims of terrible disease or circumstance did not ATTRACT that to themselves, but that it was agreed the soul would experience these things when they come into life. Such as an autistic child, or children who have cancer. I do not think these things were ATTRACTED to them any more than i think those who are innocent victims of disasters " attracted" it by group negative thinking, which i have heard said. Instead, these are brave, old souls who have agreed to come here to teach us life lessons.
So while i do believe we have control of our destiny to some extent, and the Law of Attraction can be utilized, I firmly believe  that people have " agreed to" certain life experiences, some of them that seem very negative, in order to grow spiritualy, and they did not ATTRACT them like some advocates of this "Law" would have us beleive.
    Any thoughts?
I would love to hear an open discussion on this some day.
