This week, the Scottscope roundtable celebrates the life and legacy of legendary action star Jim Kelly.  We’ll be discussing both his filmography and his place in Black cinema.  What was the best Jim Kelly movie?  What made Jim Kelly stand out from his fellow Blaxploitation stars?  Did he bring anything other than his martial arts prowess and physicality to the table?  Was he underappreciated during his time?  Have his contributions been overlooked?  Can Wesley Snipes and Michael Jai White be considered heirs to the Jim Kelly throne?  Will their legacies suffer the same fate as his?  How can fandom properly pay tribute to this pioneering Black action hero?

We’ll also be celebrating the life and legacy of legendary Shaw Brothers director Lau Kar-leung.  What was Lau’s best movie?  How vital was he to the world of marital arts cinema?  How does he compare to fellow Shaw Brothers legend Chang Cheh?  Can he be considered a true artist even though he worked in a B-level genre?  Does his influence transcend martial arts films?
