In F*CK FEELINGS: One Shrink's Practical Advice for Managing All Life's Impossible Problems (Simon & Schuster; September 1, 2015), veteran psychiatrist and APA Distinguished Fellow Dr. Michael Bennett and his comedy-writing daughter Sarah Bennett present the anti-hero of the self-help section and the cut-to-the-chase therapy session we have all been waiting for.

Most people attend therapy to try and change something they don’t like about themselves or to figure out a way to change another person. The Bennetts argue that goals like this are impossible to achieve, and therefore deflating and counter-productive. In F*CK FEELINGS, they explain that the real F words in life are “feelings” and “fairness,” and promise that any situation life throws at you is manageable if you can keep your sense of humor, bend your wishes to fit reality, restrain your feelings, manage bad behavior, and do what you think is right.

The Bennetts focus on realistic goals and acceptance.. F*CK FEELINGS gives us solutions to 140 of the problems that land on Dr. Bennett’s couch – family, love, work, self-esteem, garden variety assholes  and more.

Dr. Michael I. Bennett, educated at both Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, is a board-certified psychiatrist. He has been in private practice for almost thirty years. He is the author of F*CK FEELINGS, with his daughter Sarah Bennett, he lives with his wife in Boston.

Sarah Bennett has written for magazines, the Internet, television, and books. She also spent two years writing for a monthly sketch comedy show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York..F*CK FEELINGS, written with her father Dr. Michael I. Bennett, is her first book.
