Scott has 2 great guests tonight. First author of Empire of the Summer Moon, Sam Gwynne. Empire of the Summer Moon is a riveting true story of the final end game of the fall of the great Comachee Nation and the colorful story of their Chief, half white man-half Indian Quanah Parker, and his mother Cynthia Ann Parker. Cynthia Parker is no doubt the most famous personalities and stories of anyone kidnapped by native Americans. Cynthia Parker was kidnapped, held and finally wed and eventually gave birth to Quanah Parker. Cynthia Parker also turned her back on returning to the white Protestant nation she had lived in previously. Sam Gwynne is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared extensively in Time, for which he worked as bureau chief, national correspondent and senior editor from 1988 to 2000, and in Texas Monthly, where he was executive editor. His work has also appeared in the New York Times, Harper's, and California Magazine. His previous book Outlaw Bank (co-authored with Jonathan Beaty) detailed the rise and fall of the corrupt global bank BCCI. He attended Princeton and Johns Hopkins and lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Katie and daughter Maisie. Then Scott talks with one of the co-authors of Renewing the American Dream, Ed Crego, Managing Principal of CONSULT, Ltd. in Sarasota, Florida. With lost trust in our leaders, institutions and teh "government elite" concerned citizens know that America is in a pitivol time. Renewing the American Dream is acall to arms as a resource to help us repond to our challenges as a nation. Combining the citzen's voice and the business person's experience, we'll discuss just what that formula looks like to the authors.
