  • Mindfulness of the Mind

    in Psychology

    Creating a mindfulness skillset:
We are hardwired to connect. The mind's default setting  gets stuck on being busy.  It's as if our we are becoming utterly  self-seeking,  wrapped up in our daily to-do list,   losing  perspective of the world around us.  Change your thinking and you change your life.
Mindful Breathing.  Pay attention to the in-breath and the out-breath – using each to cultivate a feeling of joy in being alive.
Concentration. Go deeply within the process of breathing, following in-breath and out-breath fully until no other thoughts are present. From the beginning of the out-breath to the end of the  out-breath, mind is always with it.
Awareness of the Body. The discipline involves shifting awareness from the breath to the entire body. Breathing in. I am aware of my body. Breathing out. I am aware of my body. Mind and body become one reality. When your mind is with your body, you are well established in the here and the now. You are fully alive. You can be in touch with the wonders of life that are available in yourself and around you.
Releasing Tension. When you are truly aware of your body, you notice there is some tension and pain in your body, some stress. The tension and pain have been accumulating for a long time and our bodies suffer.  Our mind is not there to help release it.
Walking Meditation. You don’t have to make any effort during walking meditation.  You are there, body and mind together. You are fully alive, fully present in the here and the now. With every step, you touch the wonders of life that are in you and around you. When you walk like that, every step brings healing.

  • Are We Alone?

    in Science

We're taking a different approach for this show. Tonight we're gonna be discussing arguably the most mysterious, anticipated question in the history of human civilization. "Are We Alone?" Since the beginning of time man has been seeking the answers to this question which has yet to be answered. Or has it? There's been countless reports of UFO sightings throughout recent decades dating all the way back to as far as the beginning. There's even hieroglyphics of them on ancient Egyptian cave walls.
Then there's all of the countless footage caught on video. Are they real? Is it all just a big hoax to generate money? If they are in deed real, has man actually come into contact with an actual alien spacecraft? Better yet, do you think man has come into direct contact with the actual aliens themselves? What about AREA 51? Could it be the key to the biggest cover up of all-time? "Aliens Discovered After: Man Covers Up Alien Lifeform Discovery For 50 Years." Just imagine that.
Well tonight we're going in! Join us as we dive in and give your our perspectives. Call in # 347-838-9540

  • I Dare You to be Great and Ecocide with author Polly Higgins

    in Environment

I Dare You to be Great - with author Polly Higgins
Polly Higgins is someone who cares deeply about the Earth.  She is also a lawyer who loves the Earth. Polly states, "It’s not often lawyers talk about love – and it can feel strange to do so. However, I believe love and law can be brought together and when the two meet, the potential to create new laws that put people and planet first is born.  I’m rethinking law; my vision is a world that works from one simple overriding principle: ‘first do no harm.’  That is a world where people are thriving in harmony with nature. I believe in well-being for all beings and I apply permaculture principles to new law."
I Dare You To Be Great explores Polly Higgins’ story as an Earth lawyer as she discovers how we can create a legal duty of care for the Earth – a law of Ecocide. We have a choice: break our chains and create a greater freedom, or remain enslaved to an era of Ecocide. Polly invites in a conversation of a different kind; firing up a neural pathway of exploration that takes us into the unknown yet expands our vision of what our legacy could be. Sharing her insights, she sheds a light on what is possible – a vision far greater and more beautiful than we have dared before.

We’ll be talking about empathy and how this might affect our ability to imaginatively project from our current selves to our future selves — she’s gonna love building an avatar, given her interest in how we form identity and what it means — and also she’s become an outspoken opinionated on whether having a child can be considered a rational decision (she’s pro-childless despite having two kids of her own). About Science

Millions tuned in to see the first images beamed back to Earth the night that NASA's Curiosity landed on Mars. We live-streamed with baited breath as Felix Baumgartner set world records with his freefall from the edge of space, and marveled at the news of a successful 36-hour face transplant. From astronomy to medicine and every discipline in between, science gets us talking in record numbers. Whether you know more about Big Bang Theory the TV show than you do the cosmological model, you'll find thousands of answers on BlogTalkRadio from scientists, historians, authors, TV stars and more about popular topics like biopharmaceuticals, hydroponics, geology, solar energy, climate change, forensics, creationism vs. evolution, quantum physics, stem cell research, even UFO and Bigfoot sightings. You'll also find a full range of mental-health discussions on seasonal affective disorder, behavioral therapy, depression, codependency, schizophrenia, parapsychology and everything else that may confound, and astound, us.
