    Minnie Riperton

    Minnie Riperton

(It Is A Disgrace How They Have Treated Her!)

    it is my intentions:

With this thread, to put the GREAT SINGING! I do mean GREAT SINGER, Minnie Riperton on the maps of our hearts. I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but folk are treating her, as if she has created Murder!

Yes that's right: I said, "CREATED MURDER!" But I bring it to your attention, that she's the one who passed away: Come on, Minnie has passed away, and there's no "Minnie Riperton day? There's no show, and / or Movie telling her life story? Please: I don't care what you say....Something is indeed wrong with that!

And why you ask? because, Minnie has influenced just about every female artist that were children when she was making music, and when she passed. From Mariah Cary, to Whitney Houston: You name them, and I bet that they will be the first to tell you. But I am not writing this thread: for that alone. I am writing to induce everyone at the sound of me typing: To go out to their local record stores: and buy everything that's in Minnie's discography!

"Perfect Angel" the CD that they went to California, to ask Stevie to produce: He did, and for free! So, you see, oh, I have made a "Pun" because, if Stevie can see, how great a singer and human being Minnie is: Need I say more?

Ok....so please, I need your help! Call your radio stations.... Ask them to play all of Minnie's Music: Perfect angel, Welcome to My Garden, Adventures in Paradise!

For this Great Woman's music has been stupidly ignored! It is an "OUTRAGE!" I need your help! Her Family needs your help! Not to mention her fans: Who have not yet found a way to close this so great sorry. It's not going to take a great deal of your time. Write, call, do a video, write a letter in the sky!

But please: Lets unite and do something!

    Little Feat

    Little Feat!

I guess the group "Little Feat" can now be categorized as a bonafide classics, That are Old LOL, the lead Guitarist, or should I say: The Lead Slide Guitarist / founder / songwriter has long since past. Therefore to write of them and their music as a classic I believe at this point is a legality.

Little, founded by Lowell George, is the beautiful slide guitar work that we had come to apprecitate on just about evry Frank Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention Albums. Ooooo, sorry, I just revealed the true ages of those who respond to this thread.

But ok, you over the hill gang....how about it? Write in, tell me what was your greatest, still
is Little Fear song, and or CD! I would be very interested in hearing your comments about

this amazing, and compelling group! To those of you, when I mentioned the band, and said: "Who In The Hell Is This "Little Feat Group That You Are Talking About....Simply
go to www.almusic.com. enther in the Groups name: "Little Feat" and discover the amazing power, and beautiful wizardry of this Great Band!

Don't forget! Little Feat........ whether you are listening the vivious Feats don't Fail Me Now, or Sailing Shoes....Or the ever funky "Time Loves A Hero! You'll quickly agree that Little Feat is indeed a band to share the canons of time, as a classic!

    Keter Betts....Bassist Extrodinaire

    Keter Betts....Bassist Extrodinaire!

    Keter Betts (WilliamThomas Betts)

Born July 25th died August 6th 2005, In Port Chester, New York was an American Jass Double Bassist extrodinaire....He was, nickednamed.... "Keter", a short form of the word mosquito. starting out originally as a Jass drummer....He traveled to New York City to pratice....but later got a bit discouraged, having to haul his Gene Krupa, Jass drum kit up four flights of stairs.

As a musician, Keter player with just about every major mover in Jass. In fact, I don't believe that there was a major musician that keter didnot play with at some time on the other....My cousin Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Oscar.... Peterson, Nat Adderlt (Trumpet) Cannonball Adderly, Nat's Brother. Then there is Stan Getz (Saxophone), and Charlie Byrd....He also played with....Tommy Flanagan (Piano) and Junior Mance....another great musician (Pianist). Later....He join forces with the likes of Hamiet Bluiett (Baritone Saxophone), Sam Jones (Bass), Joe Pass (Guitarist), Clifford Brown (Trumpet), Kenny Burrell (Guritar)...... Louie Bellsom (Drummer), the husband of the great vocalist, Peat Bailey; and  the legendary (Jass & Blues Vocalist) Big Joe williams....Yet, while accompaning Ella Fitzgerald, as a member of the Tommy Flanagan Orchestra....

Later approximately a year or two, Keter became a member in Ella's band....A union which lasted, oh, Three Decades....though, his discography....reads like a who's who in Jass, after being in the business for over fifty years, it was not until 1998
that Keter recorded under his own name....

"Bass, Buddies & Blues (1999), followed approximately a year later by, Bass. Buddies & Beauty Too! Featuring the legendary and Beautiful Baltimore Vocalist Ms. Ethel
Ennis. Soon the to follow: "Live @ The East Coast Jass Festival in (2001),
featuring the Lovely and Sain Voiced, Ms. Etta Jones, the wife and life long partner of "Saxophonist" Houston Persons.

In his later years, Keter maintained an impressive schedule, performing and lecturing at schools and youth muic workshops in he Washington D.C.  area. He also served as music coordinator for Jass programing at Black.... Entertainment Television a.k.a. (BET), and as an instructor / lecture at Howard University. Keter Betts passed away at the age of 77 in his home in Silver Spring, Maryland, in 2005.
