I think the person with the strongest or more assertive character will have the most power of influence in any relationship....romantic, business, family etc. In this life I believe there are Alphas and Betas, Leaders and Followers. Leaders do what they want to relatively, and followers do what they can or told to do. Throw in the intimacy and compassion aspect, and the lines blur a little between the Alpha and Beta.
