There is a different when needing to get to the bottom of the story with regard to real estate representation.
I remember when I was looking for a real estate agent back in the mid 1990's.
I was a new lapd cop - or with 6 years on the job anyway - that in my book still is new...
I grew frustrated not being able to find someone I clicked with. I had asked people that I was working with at the LAPD and everyone seemed to be an expert. Heck, most of the people I asked, should have had their real estate licenses, they had done it all - sold, bought, invested - they were experts...
Come to find out, that was not the case at all - but I think it came down to the "who caught the bigger fish" scenario... Have you ever had that happen to you?
Anyway, they told me that I needed someone that could get the job done in real estate, not someone that I liked. That did not make sense to me - I wanted someone that would be there for me after they made their money - not just when I needed to buy a home.
However, I tried to find such a real estate and could not. The person we used, used us. He took us for a ride, which started with steering from the new housing, because they did not pay him a commission.
We represent our clients at new housing - commission or not - think about it, they are going to have to sell that home sometime - why not be in their good graces so they can also refer their friends and family to you.?? Makes sense for us, but not for the agent we first chose.
