This episode of Saint Jude Retreat’s Radio covers topics related to women and their drinking habits, problems, and the portrayal of the above in the media, as well as social acceptance perceptions.

The guest of the show is the talented writer and journalist, Gabrielle Glaser. She is the author  of the book “ Her Best-Kept Secret and  previously held positions in The New York Times, The Associated Press, The Economist, The Dallas Morning News, The Village Voice, and National Public Radio.

The radio show opens with the radio host  and Executive Director of Saint Jude Retreats, Michelle Dunbar, touching on the subject of what Saint Jude Retreats is and the philosophy behind it. Then trending topics follow, as Dunbar covers some of the latest in the media on women drinking.

During the interview, Glaser and Dunbar discuss the existence of double standards where women and their drinking/drugging habits are concerned. Glaser commented on here dismay at AA practices that she encountered during her research for her latest book. New York State Child Passenger Protection Act ( also known as Leandra’s law ) was discussed, as well as the news that marijuana is officially legal in Colorado.

The radio show ends with Dunbar answering questions by listeners, which this week touched on two controversial topics: drinking habits of women and divorce, as well as prevention of sexual assault with abstinence.
